Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Wife doing MSC next month for first time: Is there a difference between daily gratuities and Hotel Service Charge? Allegedly gratuities were done away with in 2019 so has HSC replaced it? Is Hotel Service Charge mandatory and added to your account or is it included in a booking made in UK?
  2. Following on from the issues of the Sth Africa cruise we have now cancelled it and have transferred the deposit, rather than lose it, to a Med cruise in 2025 when hopefully they will have sorted out all their problems. Still having major issues trying to get the refund for the trips we had booked for Sth Africa. No one in the UK call centre seems to know what is happening. One minute they say I had trips booked and then they say I had not. It is only when I tell them I have proof of the bookings will they admit I had trips booked. Promises to refund the money and sent a confirmation email have so far been ignored. Follow up telephone calls and emails are being ignored as well. It has now got to the extent that my TA has been in touch with them trying to get my money refunded. They have a week to complete the refund or legal action will be commencing.
  3. After all the issues we have had, we decided to cancel the cruise to Sth Africa. Cancelling 2 out of 7 ports is, by Azamara's dictum, not considerable and therefore they will not refund all the deposit. We can transfer it to another cruise or lose £500. In the interim we will look at booking something for 2025 to keep the £500 intact and hope that they have got their act together by then. Really disappointed in them and many have said they will be giving them a miss for the foreseeable future. Can see them in extreme difficulties if they do not get their act together soon.
  4. Unfortunately the email address appears to have been an old one. This saga is getting beyond a joke now. My TA has contacted them but to no avail. I have emailed them and explained that I booked the excursions on their web site and not through my TA but here is their reply. "Good Afternoon , I am so sorry to hear of the trouble you have experienced surrounding your booking, I understand how frustrating this must be. Unfortunately I am unable to discuss payment or invoice details directly with yourself as you have booked through a travel agent. I will send your travel agent a copy of the invoice and you can get into contact with them to discuss any discrepancies then they must get into contact with us directly should you still have concerns. Regarding the change in ports, at this point in time this change has come as a surprise to our team and we aren't currently sure of the reason behind it. I have spoken to my manager regarding this and she has advised another team is looking into this and we are waiting for an update to confirm a reason and if this is a permanent change so I am apprehensive to cancel your excursions until I get a response. Please bear with me and I will be in touch with you soon. Many thanks, Georgina" I have again emailed them stating that the TA has nothing to do with this and if that is the new procedure that they wish to adopt then why did the take the money from my Credit Card? I will now be contacting my Credit Card company to try and recover the money and fully intend cancelling the cruise next week when I return home from a short break. If you are on Facebook then check out the following - Azamara Tips and Advice - as it is full of similar complaints. I have a feeling they not be in the cruise game much longer unless they really get their act together.
  5. Regarding post 143 I am still banging my head against a wall trying to get a reply to this matter. The female on the telephone was less than helpful and indeed showed a very poor attitude which you knew she was not going to progress the matter. I have since emailed Customer Services to ascertain what is happening but again have been blanked so far. If it were not for the uncertainty of how I could reclaim the money I would have no hesitation in cancelling the cruise and booking with someone else. My last throw of the dice was to email Carol Cabezas directly in the hope that one of her team will resolve the matter. However as things stand I am not holding my breath. If anyone has any suggestions I will be happy to look at them.

    New website.

Booked two shore excursions for Pursuit cruise out of Cape Town in February when I was on the Azamarta site. Paid for these the same day but I am seeing a still to pay message when I go into my reservation online. Contacted Azamara and was told that as I had booked the cruise through a Travel Agent then I should speak to them re the bookings. Explained that the excursions were not done through the TA and was told that they would relay my concerns to Customer Services and the person could not discuss financial issues. Asked how long this would take and was told it could be weeks as they have a big backlog to deal with. Certainly not inspiring confidence at the moment. I have tours booked in Cape Town otherwise I would be thinking about cancelling.

  8. On The Emerald Princess in California cruise this was very well attended and there was a great deal of enthusiasm from both competitors and spectators. Good harmless fun.
  9. On the old web page it was easy to look at available excursions and what they were about and what was included. Today looked at Sth Africa for next February and it is an utter disaster. No information at all about many of the trips. How long will we have to put up with this before someone gets their finger out and gets it sorted?
  10. Just back from doing Aqua Class on the Silhouette. Quality of food was of a decent standard although the choice on the menu was restrictive but if you asked you could get the MDR menu. Also not advertised on the menu was snails which were available most nights. We were a party of 4 and tables for 4 are very limited. On the second night , for some unknown reason, they would not push two tables together although this changed later after we complained. Service on the first morning and on the second night was very poor. The sommelier was an absolute joke. Came to the table saw that 4 glasses were empty but only filled two and then disappeared. Appreciate he is run of his feet but that is up to Celebrity to provide adequate staff. It took a complaint to eventually get things sorted out. We always go balcony but if there is Aqua at a reasonable price we will go for it.
  11. Sunday 4th Sept at Liverno We have a tour booked which can accommodate up to 8 people for the below itinerary. At the moment there are 4 spaces left. The total cost for the tour is $600 to be divided by number of people going and an addition 20 euros pp for the wine estate visit. If you are interested please contact me as soon as possible. Proposed Itinerary From Port to Pisa, 30 min; drive through the city center, guide will point some highlights as Ponte Di Mezzo, Santa Maria Della Spina, Piazza dei Cavalieri all from outside. Pisa - 1 hour stop at Piazza dei Miracoli to see the Cathedral and Leaning Tower; it is possible to visit both inside. 40 minutes to Lucca on a back road through picturesque villages. 2 hour walking tour of Lucca in the old walled city to see the main highlights as Roman Amphitheatre, Fillungo street with its old fine shops, Verdi Opera House, San Michele in foro, Puccini birth place, and a walk on the massive city wall, all from outside. Drive through the Lucca country side, famous for wine and olive oil production, a stop at a winery for wine and olive oil tasting and lunch 45 minutes drive back to the port.
  12. Just off a B2B in the Med on Regal Princess. The ship was half empty but unless you booked Crown Grill first couple of days then times were difficult to get. MDR was okay at this time for seating but as pointed out some of the 2 tops are quite close together and people seemed reluctant to share. You could probably get away with charming the hostess and requesting the same time and table each night. We have done this successfully before. Might be difficult if the ship is full. What I will say is the dining experience appeared to be rushed. Waiters were removing plates and serving the next course before all at the table were finished. This was pointed out and they stopped it at that time. Also Maitre D's were seldom seem and were certainly not going round the tables. It was also noticed that shorts now seem acceptable in both MDR and Specialty Restaurants although waiting staff state they are not permitted.
