  1. Thank you. We are trying to decide whether to go away for Christmas next year because for the last few years we seem to have been visiting family rather than staying in by ourselves and we both feel that we don't want to be doing round trips of about 80 miles to go to family get togethers when it is cold possibly snowing or icy. We have already warned DH's sister that we will be staying at home on Christmas day this year and she is not happy.
  2. Is it mainly families on board to Christmas cruises ?
  3. We had a grey morning but it has turned to a beautiful blue sky with just a few high wispy white clouds but it is still cold so I am sitting inside watching the birds in the garden.I
  4. Our robin visited this morning to remind us that it is still winter
  5. It is really strange weather that we have here this morning, we have had bright sun and blue skies, heavy rain and now hail. Will we get nice weather for my Easter Sunday birthday ? I hope so but I won't be holding my breath.
  6. I am sure that most reasonable people would agree with you and would want to leave the family in peace but I am afraid that the media aren't always reasonable and I am afraid that they will be camped outside wherever they think Catherine and Charles are. I can't get those poor children out of my mind, it is so hard for them.
  7. The problem with trolls is that they have no shame and don't care about the affect that they are having on their victim and their family especially if the person is in the public eye.
  8. We are praying for the Royal family at this awful time. We had a similar situation last year with my niece and brother-in-law so know how horrendous it is to have 2 members of the family to have this awful news at the same time and particularly for the children. 🙏
  9. I have been out for lunch with my sisters and I think that I have probably gained a stone in weight but it was worth it. One sister is in Tenerife so just 3 of us and one 20 month old bossy boots who is teething so so mum decided to leave her with granny rather than taking her to the nursery adjoining the school where she works.
  10. They are absolutely brilliant. Their mum would be proud of them and their dad is fantastic with them but when they are not around and he opens up a bit it is clear that he is struggling. My sister is trying to persuade him to get some grief counselling but like a lot of men he thinks that going for counselling is a sign of weakness.
  11. A calm day planned here. I took the children to school, then went to the oatcake shop to get our last oatcakes before we go away. The children are looking forward to tomorrow when they finish for the Easter break, my guess is that being teenagers they will spend most mornings in bed for the next 2 weeks unless my sister wakes them up when she goes round to take the dog for his walk.
  12. The price of glasses and sunglasses are horrendous now, not much change from £1000 each if you are having having various coatings such as anti-glare and anti-scratch and having ultra thin lenses because your eyes are really bad and you don't want ones that look like jam jar bottoms.
  13. My optician sends out text messages confirming the time and asking not to arrive more than 5 minutes before the appointment time, so I park on Tesco carpark because it's free and then I have a slow stroll past the empty shops. The good thing is that they keep to the appointment times give or take 5 minutes but it is a small practice with 1 full-time and one part-time optician. I first went 65 years ago and have seen the family who used to own it gradually die off and now it is still privately owned by the current full-time optician.
