Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. She has actually been through the diet for many years and she knows which items for the most part set her off so it's not that she is strictly "following" it but more of she knows which of those to avoid. We are just trying to figure out which would be easiest to use to avoid her triggers.
  2. June 2024 Icon of the Seas - I and my sister will be going together and she has an unusual diet for medical reasons, she follows FODMAP , which basically means that she has a list of foods, spices, etc that she has to avoid (think things like onion, garlic, wheat, peppers, some fruits and some veggies) so I know we need to fill out the diet request form but what is going to be the best option for us as far as meals, going to the MDR or Windjammer/and other quick options? Will the MDR make specialized meat and veggies for her or at the very least let us know what is in stuff? Because if she does eat the wrong things our next day will be cancelled and she will be stuck in the cabin for 12-18hrs.
  3. Being 50 my self....for my personal enjoyment I would like the first two options and not hit Coco Cay. But that is somewhat due to the fact that I enjoy the history portion of stopping at ports more than I do the setting on a beach tanning. It's been many years since I was at Coco Cay and it's way more amusement park like now than it was back then. Also think about the ships - bigger is going to have more things going on to keep your days filled. A good way to help choose is to YouTube those particular cruises and get a feel for what all is at those locations. I spend WAY TO MUCH time on YouTube "researching" LOL.
  4. After reading I wondered what other codes ships might have that we don't hear everyday and here is a list of what I found....for what it's worth. Cruise Ships 30-30 – maintenance needed to clean up a mess Alpha (specifically Alpha, Alpha, Alpha on Princess and Royal Caribbean ships) – medical emergency Alpha Team, Alpha Team, Alpha Team – fire emergency on a Carnival Cruise Line ship Bravo or Bravo, Bravo, Bravo – fire Charlie – bomb threat Charlie, Charlie, Charlie – security threat on Royal Caribbean ships Code Blue – medical emergency Code Red – outbreak of illness Delta – damage to the ship on Norwegian Cruise Line Delta, Delta, Delta – possible bio-hazard Echo – the ship is starting to drift Echo, Echo, Echo – possible collision with another ship or the shore on Royal Caribbean ships. On other ships it can mean danger of high winds while at port. Kilo (specifically Kilo, Kilo, Kilo on Royal Caribbean ships) – all personnel to report to their emergency posts Omega or Oscar or Bravo, Bravo or Mr. Mob – man overboard (we heard that on a Disney Cruise once. That was fun.) Operation Bright Star (Code Mike on Oceania Cruises) – medical emergency, urgent assistance required Operation Rising Star – someone died on board Oscar, Oscar, Oscar – man overboard on Royal Caribbean ships Mr. Skylight, or Alpha, Alpha, Alpha – minor emergency Papa – environmental emergency (i.e., oil spill) on Norwegian Cruise Line Priority 2 – leak Purell, Purell, Purell or PVI (public vomiting incident) – cleanup (vomit) on Celebrity ships Red Party – fire at sea Red Parties, Red Parties, Red Parties – fire or possible fire on Disney Cruise Lines ships Sierra – call for a stretcher Star Code, Star Code, Star Code – medical emergency on Celebrity ships Zulu, Zulu, Zulu – a fight aboard the ship
  5. 7 years since last cruise and currently planning on one for June of 2024. Not the amount of time between I wish could have happened but due to life (hubby's cancer) it is what it is. Going to be strange going with my sis instead of hubby or kids but going to be so fun!
  6. I'm not worried about flying (or cruising) with the mask mandate being lifted. To each their own, I live my life, you live yours.
  7. In the past I monitored cruise prices through an online website that I entered the cruise line, the date, and all other specifics and it took me to a page where that cruise was listed along with every category room and the price. I can't remember the name of the site. I liked it because I could see the prices anytime, I could see the price trends, and I could follow all categories so if something was on sale I could call my TA and get a reduction or change rooms. It didn't rely on emails to get you the information. My only problem is that its been 5+ years and I don't remember the name of the website. HELP!!!!
  8. I know RCI helps accommodate special diets in the dining room, but one of our party has to follow a very specific and restrictive diet to not become severely ill. Who would be the most helpful person to get ahold to convey her needs to before we board? We are assuming eating in the dining room is going to be the best option to control any issues. We are planning on using a travel agent but I want her to be able to speak directly to someone from RCI to lessen the chance of her getting sick. Thanks for the help 😊
  9. I’ve never had an issue eating only a tiny portion due to lapband I did let the waiter know I would be eating small portions and not to worry that I wasn’t happy. They were great
  10. I am looking to book a cruise for June 2024, when do bookings open for them? Thanks!
