Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
  2. We’ve received our luggage labels and have a disembarkation time but no location to sit and wait? As we are Platinum we used to have a dedicated location with coffee and pastries and, if I remember correctly, priority disembarkation but now I don’t know if such a perk exists.
  3. I wasn’t being entirely serious but I don’t think I can ever remember being on a Cunard ship and not finding anything for a whole day. Still nuance doesn’t seem to work on message boards.
  4. Also on board and so far enjoying ourselves. However today we cannot find anything on the Daily Programme of interest at all. The pianist who we enjoyed yesterday will not appear again until after we are starting our return journey which does seem rather odd. I am wondering rather cynically whether this is to encourage me to buy another day of internet access!
  5. So sorry everybody I forgot to say which ship. It's the Queen Victoria. I'll go off now and have a look at the links etc. Thanks for the responses so far - much appreciated.
  6. We are about to embark on our first cruise since before covid and have completely forgotten just how much stuff we usually take. We splurged on the PG back in 2021 when holidays had been missing for a while and so decided to splash out. Among the mountains of stuff we found packed away there is a wall mounted shoe carrier thing and some magnetic hooks so that we could hang it on the wall. We are wondering now whether you get more wardrobe space (and consequently floor space inside for the shoes) and might dispense with taking it as it's not pretty even if it is practical. We are also considering taking a fair few clothes on their hangers so we can just open the case and hang them up directly but have a vague memory that there was a sort of fixed track thing rather than a rail (that might be a false memory or maybe just in one part of the wardrobe). Could any kind person give me some advice as to the amount of wardrobe space compared to a standard Britannia cabin. Many thanks in advance.
  7. I wonder if I could ask if Cunard cabins still have kettles and tea/coffee in the cabins. I am asking here because when I travelled recently with Brittany Ferries they said there were kettles etc in the cabins but there wasn't so I thought I would ask people who have recently travelled to get the most accurate answer. Thanks in advance.
  8. Thanks. That's not great news because I am far from petite.
  9. Why was the bathtub not usable as a bath tub?
  10. Thanks everybody for your input. Personally I preferred the old system I think but it is good to know that we can at least use our credit to buy on a daily basis. I was worried that if we didn't buy a 'plan' involving the whole holiday we wouldn't be able to use it at all.
  11. Way back in early 2022 we decided to book a cruise to the Canaries this winter. We are getting close to final payment so I have started to give it some thought and I notice that our Platinum benefits regarding the internet has changed from 140 minutes to $80 towards an internet 'plan'. Personally the 140 minutes worked well enough for us as we just logged in occasionally throughout our holiday to get our emails and reply to any that we wished to. We don't need to be online for the whole holiday but I can't really work out whether we can just buy internet for say four days at a daily rate and use up our $80 one at a time which would cover us for sea days. My partner has free roaming in Europe so we could use that when on land. Does anybody know whether we can use our credit for just a few odd days here and there (I see that they charge more if you buy by the day) or whether it will only be redeemable against a 'plan' for the whole holiday. Sorry if I haven't been very clear.
  12. This sounds a real improvement, in my opinion anyway. Being able to stay in the cabin until it is our time to disembark sounds perfect. However I always assumed that we were evicted early to allow the staff time to service the rooms before new passengers board. Presumably the trade off for this is that cabins might not be ready when the first passengers start to board?
  13. Let's face it any decent hotel is going to be full with holidaymakers so the chances of being offloaded into a quality hotel are pretty low. A hotel that isn't fully or nearly fully booked throughout the summer months is unlikely to be high quality.
  14. A few years ago we were on a cruise where the last night was an overnight in Venice. We had travelled to the ship in our own car and in an effort to be able to get off the ship as quickly as possible on the day of disembarkation the day before we packed up a load of stuff and my husband was going to take it to our car. When he tried to leave the ship with some of our luggage the security people refused to let him. It took over an hour and the need to call one of the ship's officers before he was allowed to leave.
