Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Which is exactly what I did today during our Adventure stop. And it’s what I do when on Carnival stopping here at Grand Turk. As you well know, there is not much else to do here. Water is beautiful and clear. People are pleasant, even on what was supposed to be their off day until we pulled in on short notice. And you can drop $32 on two frozen concoctions in 12 ounce plastic cups, just like I was on the ship.
  2. Oh, absolutely! Grand Turk is much more pleasant than Nassau. I guess I'll wander down the beach to Jack's Shack for some jerk chicken and a rum punch or three.
  3. We get Grand Turk as a substitute for the Adventure 8 night starting on Friday. Not exactly an exciting stop but it is what it is.
  4. They are about to complicate it some more when they roll out the new three assigned seating time scheme fleet wide. Supposedly just started on the current Icon cruise with times of 5pm, 6:30pm, and 8pm.
  5. It's as if they sourcing their lasagna meat from Taco Bell. And it's always dry to me, not enough sauce is used.
  6. Yes indeed. Every time I go to the Windjammer for lunch or dinner I marvel at all the visually appealing dessert choices, and then I try a few and they are almost devoid of any taste. Literally like biting into nothing.
  7. This thread made it to CNN. And let's see, "a former journalist who lives in Hinche in Central Haiti, says there are no political tensions there like those in Port-au-Prince, and “Labadee, in the North, is also 100% out of danger.”
  8. You can add pre-paid gratuities during the online booking process. The option will appear as a check box as you move through the various booking screens. Drink packages are a purchase you can make once the booking is created and listed in your Cruise Planner online or in the booking using the app.
  9. The couple times I checked yesterday it was not showing a current location for the ship that was there (Symphony?) so it was just “passenger vessel” showing as docked at Labadee.
  10. It wouldn't surprise me if the word went to out from the head bean counter's office to make DP340 a tedious exercise to add to a booking.
  11. There is a little known website that RCI has for this type of thing, although it’s aimed at larger audiences. https://www.royalcaribbeanincentives.com/discover/event-customization/ They do have a price list for some things. It’s in this: http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/407543a3#/407543a3/1
  12. Do a web search for the time it takes to drive from Port Au Prince to Labadee. While it’s just 120 miles it takes 6 to 7 hours to drive because of the road conditions. It may as well be 500 miles away.
  13. We have Princess Plus for our April cruise on Caribbean Princess. It is a good value. $840 total for two drink packages, two wifi accounts, crew gratuities, oh, and the two "premium" desserts per day whatever that means. They show it as $1637 worth of stuff if bought separately.
  14. I drink Bacardi and Coke Zero. On my last cruise on Symphony in January, for drinks beyond my 6 free ones I was charged $12.97: $10.99 plus 18% tip.
  15. Every time they have a President’s cruise I think about how little money the bar department is making with the thousands of C&A drinks being poured every day. As for Coco Cay, I hope a hurricane never flattens the cash cow. The shrieking coming from the executive floor at Miami headquarters could probably be heard for miles.
