  1. One of the many reasons I enjoy sailing on Carnival.
  2. I agree with GeezerCouple in that to get the waiver for pre-existing medical conditions the policy must be purchased in a very short time frame after the initial deposit. Even a refundable deposit. Also, the definition for a waiver of pre-existing medical usually includes non-traveling family members. By that, I mean, if you have to cancel your trip or interrupt your trip to go back home due to a family members emergency medical need, AND, your family members emergency was due to a pre-existing medical condition, coverage may be denied if you did not get the waiver.
  3. Have you done a search on YouTube.com for the cruise port in Las Palmas? There seems to be quite a few that will show you the information you're looking for. I was there on a cruise just last October but for the life of me, I don't really remember that port area that well.
  4. Looks like I was mistaken. Note to self: If you're not 100% sure of the information, don't respond.
  5. Gosh, I've sailed out of Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, Charleston, Galveston, New Orleans, Long Beach, Vancouver, BC., Puerto Rico, Venice, Amsterdam, and Southampton. Yes, the crowds, demographics, customs & cultures are all different. It's my job, (in my opinion), to be a Cameleon and attempt to adapt to the majority. No, in my opinion, sailing out of Galveston is NOT the friendliest demographic. The friendliest and accepting was Amsterdam or Venice. The least was Galveston and New Orleans.
  6. Unless I'm mistaken, Carnival waits until after the completion of a cruise before they upgrade you to the next level.
  7. This type of post (of which there are many that cover this subject) gets me triggered. Over my 35-year career in the profession I chose, I had a few "bosses" where I would do what you suggest. More often than not though, I worked with "leaders". There is a huge difference between bosses and leaders. A true leader allows you to complete your mission with very little oversight. When working for a leader, if I can voluntarily answer a few questions, answer a few e-mails, knock out an on-line training session when I have some downtime on a cruise to make the team more quickly complete its mission, then I was happy to do it. And, since it's my time and my money, and my vacation/holiday, I'm not sure why anyone else would be concerned about how I spend my time. I remember the ole phrase that went something like, if you do something you truly enjoy, you'll never work a day in your life. That was my job story. I enjoyed every minute of it and feel blessed to have been able to do it. I've been retired for 7 years now and miss it every day.
  8. If you need to use the VPN required by your employer to access their intranet, my past experience was that the VPN would time out before I could get connection due to the delay in the connectivity (ping) which is often in the high hundred mS if not thousand mS.
  9. Carnival buying their parts from Boeing? Or maybe following the Boeing quality assurance program? Said in jest.
  10. Search function came up empty. Looking for anyone who has experienced this property. Looks beautiful, services appear to be impeccable and with all this, the prices seem to be appropriate. Would love to hear someone else's experience. Thank You
  11. Just a side note for those of us who fly from the US, if your flight requires you to change planes in the UK (London Heathrow for example), an ETA issued by the UK will be required. (Supposed to go live for US citizens sometime in late 2024.)

    GoOpti

Do you remember what their luggage policy was? Couldn't find that information on the website. Last year, while in London, I scheduled a shared service ride to Southampton. At the last minute, I learned that they only allowed 1 large bag per person. (I would like to be able to do that, it's just not a reality for our situation). They did allow us to upgrade to "private" transportation which worked out just as well.
  13. Mine took just about 13 months. Some people have reported just a few days. Makes absolutely no sense but it is what it is. Either way, and I experienced this, as long as you began the process before the original expired, it's still active. I went so far as to drive to the airport to ask why it was taking so long. They were of no help. They did give me a number to call. I called it and followed the phone tree to where the recorded voice said that if my application was in the renewal process, they couldn't help with no further advice. Unfortunately, you just have to wait it out with zero options for updated information offered.

    NCL Air

There is a pinned thread just above this that has a ton of background information explaining what and how cruise lines work their air programs. The thread is a bit older but still has valid information even today to help you make an educated decision. Cruise Air "can" save you money. But, there can be some drawbacks. You have to decide the level of risk you're comfortable with.
