  1. Fine. Pay as you go. Not beverage package prices, which is what you mentioned in your original post. Since I'm not a mind reader, let me just state what I know about pay as you go beverages. You order a beverage. You are charged the price of the beverage plus gratuity (bar menus will list the price IN USD) and it goes on your onboard account IN USD. At the end of your cruise, your credit card is charged the amount outstanding on your account IN USD. This will appear as an amount owing on your Canadian credit card in an amount in CDN$. The credit card company, not the cruise line, will do the conversion based on that day's bank exchange rate. Or if you are using a USD account, then it will appear as USD
  2. The cruiselines dont all use dynamic currency conversion like the banks and credit card companies do. Some will use one conversion rate for a time, before changing. Sometimes this will favor the USD, sometimes it will favor the CDN. When I checked Google's current conversion rate, I got the same results as Broberts. So do your due diligence and base your decision on the package based on the current bank rate.
  3. Here's the link to the HAL forum: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/103-holland-america-line/ ETA I just watched a YouTube video of a Volendam vista suite that showed just a (large) shower. Perhaps the tub has been taken out?
  4. Back to the original question, my answer is No. There are alternatives if you prefer an adults only ship. Celebrity is marketing to a younger clientele, with an eye to the future. That younger demographic comes with children, so I can't see why they would suddenly convert any ships to adults only.
  5. I don't think GeezerCouple meant interior cabins. I think they were referring to a connecting door on the interior of the cabins. The deck plans will have a symbol that will indicate if 2 side by side cabins have a connecting door.
  6. Before you get too excited about using CFAR insurance to score a cheap cabin, look at the cost of the insurance. Do you have a person in mind who is agreeable to you using their name and personal information for this venture?
  7. I may buy a single Christmas ornament to remember a place we visited (for myself). I don't need the calories, or the dust collectors that other things bring. As for gifts for family - nothing, unless they ask for something specific.
  8. Probably want to avoid laxatives then, and opt for a daily stool softener instead. That will hopefully improve regularity without sudden urgency. Ask your pharmacist. Metamucil is available in several forms. Increasing fluid intake, and fruits and vegetables is a definite help. Prunes or prune juice.
  9. Where did anyone say you couldn't wear sweat pants? If you feel that you are limited to this single clothing item, then wear them. The discussion on this thread is about shorts in the MDR. And people who argue about the answer.
  10. The OP should be on his way to Florida. Hopefully he will come back and let us know how the boarding went.
  11. You may be using an outdated form. Use the link provided by the PP, and submit that form. There is a country selection at the very top of the page. which should be set to the US by default. Open the drop down to select your country. Then proceed to fill out the rest of the form.
  12. Does the website say its strongly recommended, or does it say it must be valid for 6 months? Because in the first case, you're fine; it's just a recommendation. In the second case, you may have a problem. Entry into the US isn't the issue. It may be one or more of the port stops that require the extra validity period.
  13. You should get plenty of suggestions on the Florida Departures board: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/386-florida-departures/
  14. You seem to be under the impression that just because shorts are ubiquitous where you have wintered, that this is the norm everywhere. And I beg to differ. The resorts that we have stayed at have almost universally required long pants in the evening, with the exception of the buffet, or occasional beach BBQ. Not knowing your previous cruise experiences, on Celebrity ships the ship interiors have air conditioning. Shorts are not necessary for temperature moderation. Indeed, the dining rooms and theatre can be quite cool. Even more reason to cover those appendages.
