  1. I would be pretty surprised if there wasn’t what I will call a watch person with a radio on the bridge with the work crew or as a member of the crew. They would be watching the traffic, not the ship channel. Given the timeline it seems like it would have been pretty difficult to get the work crew off in time.
  2. I am on the top deck of ships when sailing out of New York so I can see both sides, I shift around, and also I prefer to be up there when going under the Verrazano Bridge.
  3. Most would not be coming from BWI. Coming from DC I always took 695 west to Towson but you could take 295 from DC too. I was going to Towson before GPS but after I never used it because it came up with some stupid routes. If you actually know the way you lean the actual best route. I would never go through the city of Baltimore. Traffic lights, congestion and whatever. I doubt if Hazmat would be be allowed that route.
  4. West on I-695 which is the Baltimore beltway (it is a loop). I have done it a bunch of times because on some trips I picked up my relatives who lived in Baltimore County. Also my mother lived in Towson so I went around that way. Other times Google Maps advised me to go that way because of traffic. Freight and Hazmat could be moved by rail. There are major rail mainlines with multiple tracks.
  5. The problem is they won't be allowed to embark the ship with an expired passport. Or board an international flight. If somehow they arrived at a US border entry with an expired passport, after verification they will be allowed into the US.
  6. I was suspicious to begin with that is why I said she should bring her birth certificate. We noticed in past discussions that Real ID confuses some people into thinking they have an EDL.
  7. You don't have an Enhanced Drivers License. Only five states have them and neither Arizona or California issue them. What you have is Real ID which won't get anyone on a closed loop cruise without an official birth certificate. A lot are confused like you that is why we wanted to make sure the mother in law actually had an EDL.
  8. I am living 1200 miles away now and likely won't ever but Bayonne is likely.
  9. Carnival also does not have the Bayonne option although if there were docking space I think Royal would let them use it.
  10. I lived 35 minutes drive. from the Baltimore cruise port for 30 years and only took 3 cruises out of the port of Baltimore. Two on Celebrity, yes, they used to cruise out of Baltimore and one on Carnival. I did 11 cruises from Cape Liberty. I took Amtrak, easy peasy. The Baltimore ships used by Royal and Carnival did not appeal to me and neither did their itinerarys. I also preferred flying to Florida for better ships and itinerarey.
  11. The cars parked there used to get a free unwanted paint job....
  12. The main priority will be constructing a bridge ASAP. Building it higher for cruising is not going to be a high priority. If they can use the current approaches, I don't think they would build it higher. If they have to completely rebuild the bridge and approaches then then they might.
  13. Just outside where the cruise ships dock. It is marked F on the map.
