  1. They limit restaurants that are open on port days to give the crew a chance to get off of the ship. They do a rotating duty in those that are open. That is why they are still open on port days if it is a late arrival. They can’t get off the ship and all of the passengers are still on board. The buffet would be worse than embarkation day if the other places weren’t open. Happy cruising πŸŒŠπŸš’πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒ…
  2. Get the app Drinks Free. It has recipes for as many drinks as you would ever need, want, or don’t want. Plus many variations of the same drink. There is also a feature where you can list the available ingredients and liquors and it will list recipes you can make with them. Drink up πŸ₯ƒπŸ§‹πŸ₯‚πŸΎπŸ₯€πŸΉπŸ§‰πŸ»
  3. Short answer we loved it. It is in the middle of the ship. The bed doesn’t face the balcony and I don’t see the problem. We had a SS where the bed faced the balcony and it didn’t really do anything for us. The bath doesn’t have the window to look out. Not a big deal. I know many may think it is special. The balcony is large enough to have 2 loungers on it. I will gladly trade the bed facing the balcony and the bath window for those. We spend a lot of time on the balcony. The Magic Carpet is 2 decks above. It provides extra shade and protection from the elements plus there are cabins above instead of a public area. You can also look along the side of the ship through the side window, and yes they can see you. Also the other SS may have a pole in the balcony area. The SS are units of 4. The 2 middle units have a pole. Those balconies are also not as deep as the MC suites. We were able to use the stairs most of the times as we can climb a few flights to go to the retreat areas even though I have had both hips replaced. It all depended on how we felt. Some also may like the other suites as they are closer to the retreat areas but they will still take the elevator instead of the stairs. One flight or 2 doesn’t matter if you take the elevator. All of the retreat areas are at the front of the ship. Yes it would be a long walk. In the MC a you are basically in between the elevator and stair banks. Equal walk any way you want to go. Elevators came rather quickly. Hope it helps to decide. Happy cruising πŸŒŠπŸš’πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒ…
  4. The problem was the cost of the wine was $10 over the price limit covered by the premium package. I think the price limit was $17 and that wine per glass was $27. I told him that I had the premium and didn’t want to go over that. When he suggested the wine and poured me to taste I again asked if it was covered and he said yes it is $10. To me that was meaning the cost per glass was $10 and covered by the premium package. What he meant was it was $10 over the limit even though I told him a few times I don’t want to go over the limit of the premium pack. Then to be charged for 6 glasses of wine when I say in total I only drank about 2 1/2 glasses because he kept topping off when it was still 1/2 to 3/4 full and I didn’t finish the last full glass. At the time I thought it was just good wine service when all he was after was the additional gratuity of $2/glass. My wife had a white wine that she asked for. It was in the premium package. Funny that he didn’t top her glass as many time as he did mine. I think her glass got refilled once and at that time it was almost empty. Happy cruising πŸŒŠπŸš’πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒ…
  5. If the ship still has a library you will find a few of the cookbooks that people left. We did a chefs table. I had a premium drink pack. I mention that to the sommelier. He suggested a red wine. I tried it and it was ok, nothing special just red wine. I am not a wine expert or connoisseur. I asked if it was covered by the package and he said yes it is $10. Fine. My glass would get between 1/2 and 3/4 full and he would top it off. At the end of the dinner and he started to top it off again and I told him not to. I think I left about 3/4 of it. He then gave me a bill to sign. It was for 6 glasses of wine at $10 per plus the gratuity. I asked why I was getting it and he said because it was $10 over the premium allowance. I didn’t want to make a scene so I signed it. It was for $72. I took the receipt and went to GR and told them the problem. The next day I got a call. The charge was taken off and they were sorry for the misunderstanding. Happy cruising πŸŒŠπŸš’πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒ…
  6. On one cruise the captain said it against the rules for any Celebrity Captain or officer to drink alcohol when on the ship. Even if off duty as they may be required to take over at any time. Happy cruising πŸŒŠπŸš’πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒ…

  8. You were invited? Does that mean that you didn’t have to pay for it? What category of suite were you in? When sailing in a suite we would get approached by the Sommelier trying to sell us a wine experience, and by the Maitre D to purchase one of those dining experiences. They would say that there are a few openings if interested. We were never offered it for free. Happy cruising πŸŒŠπŸš’πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒ…
  9. Smokers don’t realize how they reek from their smoke. It is really bad when you have a seat in the theater or lounge and a smoker sits next or around you. It is also a problem on a confined bus tour. That is why we no longer take tours. On the Edge class the smoking areas are usually: Port side areas are deck 4 rear outside of Eden, Sunset bar, and rear of pool area. Starboard is the Mast Bar. My wife will get migraines and I can feel your pain seeing what she goes thru. I don’t get migraines but I break out in hives from the smell of cigarette smoke. Hope this helps Happy cruising πŸŒŠπŸš’πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒ…
  10. You don’t need to attend the beyond the podium unless there is nothing else to do. It is always shown on the in room TV and runs continuously. Do some channel surfing and you will find it. It may be on the CD channel. I think that is why the presentation may not be well attended. Happy cruising πŸŒŠπŸš’πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒ…
  11. I don’t know what kind of zoo the comedian is referring to as all the zoos that I have been to are organized and under control with the animals confined in pens, or cages. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ It appears to be more of a jungle where the animals are running wild. Happy cruising πŸŒŠπŸš’πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒ…
  12. The difference would be if the bed is by the balcony or lavatory. Also if the head of the bed is towards the front of the ship or the rear. The later may affect those with motion issues that have a problem with the way they are moving when laying down. The cabin may have an obstructed view, be too far from the stairs or elevators, be near a public area, or have one above or below. Other differences would be the deck level and location that affect the movement in the cabin. The cabin may also be close to a smoking area. Depending on your preference. Some cabins in the same category also have larger balconies. Happy cruising πŸŒŠπŸš’πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒ…
  13. In St Maarten you should try walking to town instead of taking the water taxi. It is a 1/2 mile walk. Along the way you can see mountain goats in the cliff on the opposite side of the road. Crabs and etc in the draining ditch along the walkway. There are a few beverage stands, and also people with coolers selling beer, and other drinks for a few dollars to drink along the way. There is also a cheese store that provides samples. Happy cruising πŸŒŠπŸš’πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒ…
  14. There is also monitor as you enter the buffet that shows what the daily themes will be for the entire cruise. It may take a few minutes of watching to get to the screen that shows it. I would suggest having your phone ready to take a photo when it pops up. I think it is near the port side entrance Happy cruising πŸŒŠπŸš’πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒ…
  15. When in a suite I have a hard time not dining in Luminae on sea days. Eden is nice for their chocolate cookies and brownies. It is a hard choice between Luminae and Eden Cafe on sea days. We will have lunch in Luminae and then go to Eden Cafe and stock up on their brownies and Cookies. Their cookies are different than those served at Cafe al Bacio and the buffet. Have a little and keep the rest of for later on. Chocolate and bourbon makes a nice combo. I suggest to try the Chocolate Pill for desert in Luminae if you love chocolate. It is on the Daniel Buolard (sp) option at the bottom of the main dinner menu every night in Luminae. It is easy to miss when the desert menu is delivered because it isn’t on it. So you have to remember to order it. Or just take a photo of the main menu and look it when ordering a desert. Tip also order a scoop of gelato or ice cream to go with it. Honestly I can’t tell the difference so I get the flavor that I want and is available. I think gelato has less cream so it doesn’t have as many calories. Happy cruising πŸŒŠπŸš’πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŒ…
