Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Just had an another P&O email this evening to say they are having issues with the dining booking system, any bookings already made will be honoured but no new bookings can be made until the issue is fixed. The original email, as Bin man says, mentioned 14 days in the small print (I hadn't seen that) but booking was available. I was able to add dining options to my basket. I didn't complete the bookings so I will have to start again when it's fixed.
  2. At 9.00 this morning I rang, only to be told the Leeds coach was full. I was offered a place on another, travelling from Bradford Not as easy to get to, but much easier than the train! Under the circumstances any option would do so I booked and paid for it 3.00 this afternoon had a phone call from Cruise Connect, they had looked at my email and arranged a seat on the Leeds coach if I wanted it, and so I swapped the booking I made this morning I'm so happy that someone cancelled, it's made the holiday so much easier. We like cruising because of the simplicity - just turn up at the coach station and there's nothing more to think about for 2 weeks (apart from what to eat where and which trips to go on) Thanks for all your replies
  3. I've spoken to P&O today and restored my OBC. Now I have to wait until tomorrow (seems like a lifetime!) to find out if I can get on with Cruise Connect (a brand of Intercruises). They offered me an online price yesterday (29 days to sailing) but not today, it's telling me to call them. Eavesway are full.
  4. Has anyone any experience with booking the complimentary coach with Cruise Connect after the 35 days has passed? I had it in mind that it was 4 weeks (no idea why!) and now it's too late to book online. I'm going to try ring first thing Monday but it's only 27 days by then. The website help pages says they are open 7 days a week 8 till 8 but the message I got on the phone when I rang them says Monday to Friday 8 to 6 only, and their home page says Weekdays 8.30 to 6 and Saturdays 9 to 4. This could be one very expensive error, entirely my fault.
  5. Thanks for your replies, everyone. I was hoping someone would have a definitive answer, but then I thought about it - what difference would it make to me? I usually collect a few books ready for the cruise, then leave them once I've read them. I have been lucky so far with the swap selection available. . If there's no swap shelf I'll browse the library and find a book there instead.
  6. Packing now for our 14 night Baltic cruise next week. Last time we were on Britannia there was quite an active guest shelf in the library, where we could leave our books for others and likewise pick up another. This was a great help, being able to leave the books we took without having to bring them home. However, on Iona last year there was no such facility, even having notices telling us not to do it (I guess if everyone left a book behind there could be thousands of books abandoned on each sailing), but it seemed to work well on Britannia. Does anyone know if the bookshelf on Britannia is still operating? I've done a forum search and there's been no recent comments to suggest that it's still available, I wondered if it was a Covid casualty.
  7. We're on the May 12th version of the Baltic itinerary (B312) which is slightly different to B322, and Tallin is on our booking confirmation as 7.00 arrival and 17.00 departure. I don't particularly like the terms 'early morning' and 'afternoon' etc., which are P&O's favoured descriptions (and there's a FAQ relating to the times somewhere on the website; I haven't looked for it recently but recall seeing it some time ago) but it does relate to the timings we have been given for our May cruise. For example Helsinki, 8.00 to 22.00 the following day is 'morning' to 'late evening'.
  8. I hadn't noticed that they renamed the cruise title since the tab label says 'B312 - Baltic Cruise'. I think it would have been simpler to leave the Baltic option available and put a note on the search landing page to explain the itinerary name change. The Baltic Sea still exists, all the cruises in the area are passing through it, so why abandon the name? We chose the itinerary because it doesn't go to SPB, we've still got 6 months before we sail and, as you say, anything can happen up to then. We'll have to wait and see.
  9. Hi everybody, I've been following this thread because I'm going on B312, which has not been cancelled. I was looking through the new Moments magazine and there's a feature about new shore experiences in Helsinki. I wasn't sure if we'd be staying overnight so I checked the P&O website, only to find the filter for Baltic destinations is not available. The URL given in the article simply states 'no search results are currently available '. Nothing for 2024 or 2025. I searched B312 and it's available, but I wouldn't be able to find it without knowing the cruise number. It confirms we are staying overnight. I did wonder if they have been taken off the site so that anyone booked on the one of the cancelled cruises who still wants a Baltic cruise can swap to a different date?
  10. Just been looking through some of the information stuff in the cabin and found this tab; we opened the second can this morning and so far our cabin steward hasn’t mentioned anything about it. So, 2 cans and a hidden label.
  11. Looking at Google maps, it looks to be just over halfway down the fjord I think we turned round in the wider part of the fjord. We could see the road snaking down to a few buildings but Geiranger was just out of sight
  12. As I mentioned in an earlier post, we were told that we would be cruising as far as the Seven Sisters before turning round. We did that: We sailed a short way past so those on the port side could get a good look before we got the view on the return.
  13. The web is full of suggestions, some say finish with the Prosecco and others say mix it, but according to the creator of the cocktail, Douglas Ankrah, he advises you to scoop out and eat the passion fruit garnish, drink the prosecco, then sip the cocktail at your leisure. So drink it however you want, it’s up to you!
  14. Can you explain the 2 glasses? Should they be mixed before drinking or kept separate? Not had one before either but we might. We’ve booked Sindhu for Thursday, had to book for 3 people because it only offered 9pm for 2 people. Advised by staff to do that when we asked how to get a table around 6.
  15. There’s plenty of room for 2 gangways, they are both in use. We came back on board around lunchtime and it was busy but less than 5 minutes queuing. Wheelchair access is the forward one. I think Sarah mentioned that in her thread
