Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Pinel Island is actually really beautiful. I took a private excursion that used it as a restroom break and a souvenir stop, after snorkeling off Tintamarre. Both are really nice. In fact, my whole family has some really nice memories of that experience.
  2. I’ve watched my trip on Ascent only go up. My 7 day med went from 1900pp (w/all taxes) in concierge to over 3300pp, and it still doesn't sail until und of June.
  3. I was shocked at the few folks that complained about this review. They’re allowed to have an opinion. Just because yours is different doesn’t invalidate theirs. I happen to agree, the selection wasn’t very good at the buffet, and they did rotate the mains every other day, so one day was salmon Benedict and French toast, next day ham Benedict and pancakes. However the omelettes were good, but the lines were long. Not a great option when you’re eating with others. Otherwise big chicken was just a chicken tender on a not so good biscuit. There was blue iguana, but the burrito fillings were bland, so hope you like salsa. There were no breakfast burgers at Guys. And the sea day brunch was literally the same food as on lido except for maybe chicken and waffle which was extremely low quality. If you have a different opinion, I respect that. This is mine.
  4. Well, I appreciate the heads up 😅 I’ve only been around here for about 8 years, so I guess I still have a lot to learn.
  5. Just got off the Mardi Gras. I was so unimpressed. Our large balcony was really cheap, though, so that’s a plus. The cabin steward and the steakhouse servers were very friendly and probably the highlights of the cruise (and comedy). The bed is ROCK hard, but our steward got us an egg crate and that helped. The lido food was bland and repeated the mains every other day. We ate in the MDR twice, and it was terrible. Maybe because we had my time dining, the servers were quick to get us out and not overly friendly. They did ask our names, but never used them. The food was tasteless and cheap. Except for the steakhouse, and Rudi’s, the food was subpar at best. I don’t get people’s fascination with Guy’s pressed pan seared burgers, and the selection is small at blue iguana. I ordered a filet mignon on elegant night, and it was fatty and chewy like a cheap sirloin. Oh yes, elegant night….the dozen or so people that dressed up were a nice addition, and then there were those in sneakers and button down shirts (at least they attempted) but everyone else were in shorts, tank tops, baseball caps and flip flops it was like morning on the lido. Second elegant night we just went to Chibang…and no lobster there. There were people screaming profanities at the guest services desk several times we walked by…real classy. The grand central was a terrible idea for shows. People walking all around and in front of you was terribly distracting to the shows. And the shows weren’t even that great. It was like they had the same 7 performers do everything. Celestial String was alright, but they just ran around or slid around removing layers of clothes the whole show. Clearly lip syncing at times for sure, and the ariel bits were just lifting people in the air and floating them around a little. Absolutely NO acrobatics at any time. Voodoo was just a variation of celestial strings or vice-versa. The adult comedy was good though. I give them props for that. Don’t sit in the first row, lol! Overall the ship lacked any real elegance, I’ve been used to sailing RCL and MSC. Of course, this is all subjective. I can see there bring lots of people who love the wild range, spring break like atmosphere. The bartenders also need training. If you don’t order of the menu they rarely know how to make it. Even if you do order off the menu, they forget to add ingredients sometimes. Alchemy was okay, but they rotated bartenders so you’d get lousy bartenders even at Alchemy. Disembarking was a nightmare, we had regular, not early, and chose #26 tags. By the time we got through customs, it was 11:30am…3 hours after leaving the cabin…worst disembarkation ever.
  6. Dates maybe, if they’re not the exact same week. Also could be ports, if not the exact same ports.
  7. Thank you. And I should also add we’re not Platinum members. I asked our steward he said there was a blue box on top of the form for that, though that turned out to be only platinum. We went to guest services. At first she said while they had that on other ships…then she paused and said they do have it on this this ship for $15/bag but couldn’t help with how to fill out the form. She said just give it to the steward. I’m just anticipating filling up a bag and being charged like 50-60 bucks, lol!
  8. We are currently on the Mardi Gras and we were planning on taking advantage of using the laundry service for wash and fold. The one where you pay $15 for a whole bag. The laundry form is a little confusing to me, since it just talks about valet. Is there a separate form, or how do I just fill it out for just wash and fold?
  9. I’m okay with the generic fries, I guess. Other cutbacks, I’m not happy to hear about. But Carnival has about THE most affordable cruise rates, so I can sort of see where it’s coming from.
