  1. I think the only saving grace on any of this is that most have not yet booked airfare or hotels.
  2. Great information! Thank you! šŸ˜
  3. Well, Iā€™ll be a monkeyā€™s uncle! šŸ˜³ Went back and looked at the video and sure enough thereā€™s a window with curtains!!! šŸ¤Æ I never wouldā€™ve guessed in a million years. šŸ„°
  4. Will have to give that part of it some thought. Iā€™m sure, especially with an Inside Passage cruise, there would be lots of foot traffic heading from the Observation Deck towards the Crowā€™s Nest and visa versa, but maybe not so much at night when itā€™s cold outside? I do rather like the idea of being just steps from the great outdoors with the sky above me and surrounded on all sides by scenery. šŸ˜
  5. Just watched a video tour of Noordam which walked right past K10021 and youā€™d think thereā€™d be issues with the exterior fire door being right there? Did you experience that? Iā€™m not particularly prone to seasickness either, but most of my prior cabins have been amidship and about halfway up. I have always insured that I had enough Bonine in me (at least 24hrs before flight-time heading down to the port) to where itā€™s in my system well before boarding the ship.
  6. One more question, if I may. Any issues with the Oak Room, and cigarette smoke wafting into the hallways? šŸ¤”
  7. How was it for motion? I think on the second half of the B2B Iā€™m contemplating Noordam travels on the outside of Vancouver Island into the open ocean. That would probably be the worst of it. I do rather like the idea of being only a step or two from the outside. šŸ˜
  8. THANK YOU! šŸ‘šŸ˜ Actually just off of them phone with a PCC - our first contact - with him making an initial ā€˜howā€™s it goingā€™ introduction. I went over my concerns as laid out above, and he confirmed that the new ā€˜policyā€™ is in play. He also agreed that the itinerary, time of year, and ship made it a lot less likely that Iā€™d get bumped, saying it was probably around 5%. I only booked that category based on the fact that it has much more room to spread out, but thatā€™s not so important to risk that 5% and having a B2B bumped to separate cabins in less than desirable locations. Iā€™m not really interested in the balcony cabin, even if I get upgraded to one. Past experience shows that I just never spend any time there, even in Alaska. Iā€™ve researched other inside cabins, specifically the sideways inside cabins aft on Verandah Deck. Time is definitely on my side, Iā€™d just rather get this out of the way so that I can focus on my current booking for April 2025. šŸ˜
  9. I havenā€™t had to pack a sea bag or stow my bunk lockers in over 35 years. LOL šŸ˜‚ Enjoy the luxury of being able to pack two suitcases, a carry-on, and a personal item. šŸ˜
  10. This will be my first flight in more than a decade. I rarely fly, since my more recent cruises where all from a drive-to port, so checked luggage wasnā€™t ever a factor.
  11. My apologies for digging up an old thread, but wanted to ask you about these specific cabin types and HALā€™s newer ā€˜policyā€™ that leans towards favoring triples/quads as an excuse/reason to bump (single-occupancy) passengers. Iā€™m booked on the April 19, 2026 Noordam doing the ā€œGreat Bear Rainforestā€ sailing r/t from Seattle. Itā€™s off-season (2 weeks after Easter), very early ā€˜Alaskaā€™ season, and mostly all British Columbia, Canada ports and scenic cruising. It only has one stop actually in Alaska. Thereā€™s a very high probability that Iā€™ll book the following voyage and make this a B2B. At this point in time, do you feel that itā€™s safe - based on the above observations - that I wonā€™t get bumped, or should I go ahead and move my cabin now and save myself some grief?
  12. You may already know this, but on some days Ward Cove hosts two ships, which may make it more interesting when using the shuttle services. It appears on the day youā€™re their Norwegian Encore has Ward Cove all to herselfā€¦ https://claalaska.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/KTN-Ketchikan-2024.pdf
  13. Somehow I missed that! Thanks for making me go back and re-read Page 1. šŸ‘
  14. As Iā€™ve posted, I am cruising for 32-nights with wildly different weather expeditions between Panama, Central America, California, and 2-weeks in Alaska. Itā€™ll be fun packing for this. šŸ˜³ At $34 Iā€™ll still use the ā€˜Bag of Laundryā€™ day. That will help. Plus halfway thru the cruise Iā€™ll have a laundry day shoreside. That helps a LOT too. And Southwest gives you two checked bags for free. Thatā€™s a huge plus! šŸ˜‰
