  1. Just my thoughts... I've purchased 3 pairs of binoculars for different reasons... Binoculars types will have two numbers with an X in between.. eg 8X42 or 10X50 or 20x80 The first number is the magnification - the higher the number the great the magnification. So, a higher number will make the object look closer. The second number is the size of the lens in mm. This is important if you want to look at daytime vs evening or night time objects. The higher the second number, the more light it lets in - giving you a better image in low light. My most used binoculars are 10X50 - these are the ones I bring on my cruises. I get a decent image at night (it's cool to see other cruise ships at sea). A word of caution.. the larger the magnification, the harder it is to hold the image still. I have to use a tripod for my 20x80 - they are huge, and heavy, and the image will shake due to the high magnification. I use my 20x80 for star gazing. My advise is get a decent 10x50 set - not too heavy, but a decent image even at night.
  2. I thought so... If the OP was looking for 0% alcohol, a de-alcoholised wine won't give you that. Just something to be aware of in case it's important.
  3. I'm not a drinker, but aren't there 2 types of "Alcohol-free" wine? 1. De-alcoholised (removed most, but not all alcohol. Typically less than 0.5% remaining) 2. Sparkling grape juice / fancy grape juice, etc - 0% alcohol - was never made with it. 3. Other??
  4. The ratio of thread views to replies is pretty high on this thread 🙂 You were all thinking the same thing. OP: I've found a good room steward very accommodating. You've got the right idea - tip them - even up front in cash, and they will do a lot for you. Especially with your condition.
  5. Apologies. Did not even fathom that this could be monetized 😉
  6. I'm just here for the comments - and you guys have not disappointed. Thank you.
  7. We board in about 10 days, and a few of the silliest questions still are unsure for me. We have YC on the Meriviglia leaving from Brooklyn in March. Luggage- We are parking at the Red Hook terminal parking lot. This is our first time at that port, and first time on MSC and (obviously) first time in YC. Normally, we drive our car to an area with luggage porters, tip them $10 and leave our bags with them, then park our car and walk into the terminal. With YC - do we just park our car in the garage, and walk our luggage with us to the YC line? Fridge Restocking- 1. We don't drink alcohol. We would like to have our fridge space better used for juices, waters, and pops, which we enjoy on vacation - do we just let our concierge or room attendant aware of our requests? Any chance there is some online form or email for these things? 2. Toblerone - I understand there will be a toblerone, but it's not restocked - one and done for the cruise. Not that we will need the extra snacks with the YC restaurant and lounge so close - but I love toblerones 🙂
  8. What's conditioner?? I see bottles of it in my shower at home too - I assume it's for DW. For me, I consider it a score if I can find a 3-in-1 that does everything (whatever that means). Much more efficient. 😉
  9. Seems to be some conflicting information on how many devices per person YC internet access gives us. I've seen reports here on CC that YC includes 2 devices per person (4 devices per double-stateroom). And other's who report only 1. Not sure if it's ship dependent, but we'll be on Meraviglia in March (first time - hence the question). Has anyone actually tested 2 per person and had success?
  10. Yup. Same issue here. Passport have "Given Names" which includes my middle name. Middle name is not on my cruise reservation (nor has it ever been for my other 12-13 cruises with other lines). So - I get the "does not match our records" error. That's when I use the app on my phone. If I check in on the laptop, I can enter the passport information manually - no problem, but I cannot get past the photo stage... for the life of me, I cannot get the "Selfie" to work with my laptop camera - it won't find my face to take the photo. It's a circular situation of pure frustration. I'm just going to show up at the port and check in there. I'm assuming this is possible
  11. I have the same issue. My passport has my full name , but there is no section for "middle name" it just says "surname" and "given names". So, my middle name is there with my first name. But, on the MSC booking, it just has my first name. We've sailed 14 times before, and never had an issue. BUT, I went to do the online checkin for our cruise next month, and it scanned my passport, but gave me an error that the document doesn't match the reservation. Can I just skip the online check in and just show up at the port?
  12. My bid was accepted on another sailing, but in the bid documents, I believe it says MSC will make a decision no later than 48 hours before sailing.
  13. Thanks everyone... Interestingly, I received multiple other emails from MSC saying that the other purchased items (internet, Marine Cay cabana, and specialty dining) have been cancelled and refunds are being processed. MSC did this automatically.
