I am going on NCL Gem and one of the port is Santorini. I am torn on whether I should join the NCL excursion or an outside tour company. The positive thing about NCL excursion is that I can get off the cruise ship earlier because they give priority to tender for those who join NCL tour. However, the description of their Oia tour sounds "skimpy" and there is no mentioning that the tour even brings the group to Fira. Does anybody have experience with the cruise ship Santorini tour? The outside tour group says it will pick the tourists up from the FIRA PORT. I wonder if that means once I get off the tender boat, the bus is by the harbor? I do not have to take the cable car to Fira town in order to board the bus, right? Because if I have to, that means a long wait for the cable car, and other people in the same tour group might be even more delayed and hence the exact time to drive to Oia might be really delayed. Any input? Thanks for any input you can give us. BTW, I think I saw somewhere one way to circumvent this cable car up is to join a tour that takes you from cruise tender port to Oia first ( by boat) so I assume you start with Oia and then come back to Fira which is closer to the ship's docking area. ? Hello, I will be taking a cruise that stops at Santorini. Looks like there is a lot of concern about the tender, taking the bus up at Fira etc takes too long and a lot of people missed their booked tour ( outside company , not from cruise line). can someone with experience comment on this. ? How many hours after ship dock shoudl we book the tour ( to account for the tender, taking cable cars etc) I think the tour company has their own start times, I am not sure they would wait for us if it got delayed. Hello, I hope I post in the right place. I am taking NCL Gem that ends at Trieste cruise termnal. It is supposed to dock at 6 am , and my flight from Venice Marco Polo airport leaves at 11am. I understand it takes about 2 hours to go from Trieste cruise terminal to Venice airport. I was wondering if anyone have gone on this cruise and can comment on how soon after the ship docks can we disembark. Do they disembark by " zones" and you are not allowed off if your zone is not called. I can book private transfer from Trieste to Venice airport. But I need to find out how long it takes to disembark to see if this is even doable. If I changed to any flight after 11 am, it involve long ( about 12 hours OVERNIGHT layover. Since I am travelling solo, I do not feel comfortable to stay overnight in a hotel by myself, taking a taxi late at night to go to the hotel and next morning take another taxi before the sun rises to go to airport again. If anyone has experience with NCL disembarkation process and time expectation, I would greatly appreciate if you would share the info. I really appreciate it.

Hi, I have not travelled for a while, so I hope I am posting in the right place.I like to know how to go from Trieste port to Venice airport. Looks like there are no aiports in Trieste , so need to go to Venice to catch the airline home . . Other than the cruise provided transportation, is there any other =way. Reason why I am thinking of getting my own transportation. I am afraid it would be a long time after disembarkation ( 6 am) before the cruise lines buses to the airport leave. Right now, I have not decided on whether to use my own air. If I do, there are flights leaving from Venice to SF about 12 noon. I am afraid the cruise transportation would not arrive that early. Internet said it is 2 hours away, is that correct ? Also, how many people can fit in a taxi ( we have 5) and roughly how much would that cost ? Thanks very much.
