Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Our first HAL cruise is coming up on Mar 30th, we are looking at several HAL cruises next year. My question, "is there an advantage to booking on board". reduced deposits, refundable deposits, obc, anything?
  2. Can anyone tell me if this covers more than cruise cancellation? I was quoted $478 for a 7 nt Alaskan cruise $2730pp basic price.
  3. I miss spoke, I was not "told", it was just what I understood from all that I tried to gather from HAL's web site. Cruise Critic, and You Tube. I know, I know.
  4. Booked with the signature drink pkg included. Can I upgrade to the Elite pkg for the difference in price (of quoted drink pkgs) if not in the promotion? The difference seems to be something like $55 and $60 pp per day between the Signature and Elite. I was told, I had to pay $17pp per day to upgrade, and I couldn't upgrade before boarding. Is that the way it is, and if so how do they justify it?
  5. Celebrity Summit arrives in Vancouver at 7am, the quick shuttle bus leaves bay 11 (Canada Place at 9:10). Is making the connection doable? My concern is even using self debarkation then going thru customs, is two hours enough time.
  6. Looking into Vancouver/SEATAC by bus. Does anyone know where bay 11 is? "Meet Quicktrip rep at 9:00am at bay 11 on cruise level" These are the instructions for catching the bus, where is bay 11. I assume it will be apparent once we disembark, however I like having my ducks in a row. Thanks
  7. The reason ours is not in violation is because we start in Vancouver and end up in LA, via Steward. If you start in Seward and end in LA, that is a violation. A ridiculous archaic law.
  8. We booked this cruise while on board the Sumitt in Oct., as third leg of a b2b2b. Took three days for on board "future cruises" to get OK from "Miami". Their computer system kept showing a PV...(Jones Act) violation. It is not, Vancouver, Seward, Vancouver, LA.
  9. New to HAL. I have read HAL's description of their standard and premium plans. My question is " has anyone had the misfortune to use either plan, and did it deliver as promised"? We are booked, but before final payment, and are considering buying one of these options.
  10. Just saw a live report on CNN from a pilot flying over Lahania...Banyon tree and Pioneer Inn gone, all of front street gone, boats in the harbor all burnt down to the water line. Unbelievably sad.
  11. New to HAL. Noticed on HAL's website if you could "verify" veteran and AARP status you could get obc. I "verified" , now what? How do I get the obc?
  12. Thanks, but it was a seperate question. Ensenada is considered a distant port when sailing California coastals or Hawaii, and it satifies the PVSA requirment. And, it is as close to San Diego as Vancouver is to Seattle, which violates the PVSA. go figure
  13. My thinking is, this is not a true b2b, two different ships and a day between sailings. Doesn't the PVSA state "same ship".
