First, where would the dirt be coming from when sailing far from shore? And second, we usually sail in Aft S1's. I have always used a towel to clean the soot off of the loungers. Having a fireplace at home I know soot when I see it.

In all the years we have sailed with X they have never moved us from the cabin we originally booked. Personally I wouldn’t worry about it.

Yes. You start the process prior to boarding, but the last step is completed on board when you report to your Muster station to check in. It's really easy peasy. 😊
