Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I have checked both of those Port schedules in our ship is not listed but we just changed itinerary this week so I'm not surprised. But it does look like Royal always docs at Taino
  2. We just found out that our Mariner of the Seas cruise will be moving from Haiti to Puerto Plata. I have never been there and don't have much experience with this port. I've been doing some reading on here and I can't quite figure out if we would be Amber Cove or something different. Can someone please break down for me how this works or where Royal Caribbean would typically be docking?
  3. Or possibly because people were starting to cancel or not book cruises that went there
  4. I find it fascinating that this post has so few replies. What happened to all the individuals that were saying this would never happen just two days ago?
  5. It is steep. It works out to about 8ish drinks a day each. I know when I go to resorts in Mexico that's easy to get through.
  6. My feeling on this is that you can't live thinking what if. You need to just go ahead and live life and if something causes you to Pivot along the way and change plans than you do it. Regarding the pandemic, it was worldwide enough that people were able to cancel their booking and rebook down the road. Our family was supposed to cruise the week everything shut down. When we did rebook we got a much better rate and we were given $3,000 of onboard credit. We were still able to enjoy the vacation that we booked just at a later time
  7. I am really torn right now. In the past I have always sailed with kids and being that the adults were split between two cabins, we were able to have the drink package for only one of us. Our next cruise will be an adults only Cruise was likely lots of partying. We only have two ports and one of them is a Royal Caribbean port which obviously accepts the drink package. The cost is $100 per day. The Money Saver in me wants to do the math and figure it out but the individual in me that doesn't like to look cheap and wants to just relax and enjoy doesn't want to have to Nickel and dime. Decisions decisions
  8. Regarding the whole UK travel insurance thing, this advisory has been in effect since 2019 and people from the UK have been deciding to go there or not since then. The recent situation in Haiti doesn't all sudden make this an issue.
  9. I have no idea why you are suggesting that I was trying to stir the pot. I simply posted something that was shared in another group as a quote. I didn't claim that it was 100% accurate or that I knew the information first-hand. I just thought it might be a helpful addition to the conversation in case it turns out to be accurate. I know you don't know me so you have no idea of my character but I wouldn't post something just to be difficult
  10. I don't know what time that happened at. It was just posted within the last couple of hours though.
  11. On a Facebook group for our April cruise
  12. Just read this is another forum... "I talked to RC today. They said it’s a serious issue and have taken Haiti off upcoming cruises until April 8 and replaced it with CoCo Cay. They said they are most likely going to change upcoming cruises beyond 4/8 as well and our April 22nd one will likely not go to Haiti. They explained that it’s not a separate island but just a fenced off part of the mainland and guest safety comes first. I agree it’s not as fun of a topic as other posts are but nonetheless extremely important.. nothing like this has happened there before. They have taken over airports and Haiti is reporting basically a collapse of their government."
  13. Sorry it posted twice and I can't figure out how to delete this
