  1. It does not qualify. Bermuda is not a distant foreign port under the PVSA.
  2. I never had any problem getting the coffees on embarkation day and I have been Elite Plus for a lot of sailings. If my order is not at Cafe Bacio. I do remind them in a confident manner there is no charge. Never had any backlash. I presume that if they had any uncertainty they asked their supervisor.
  3. They don’t have their eggs in one basket. They have plenty of ships other than Oasis class or Icon. That is why they can take their time with the new class of medium size ships.
  4. Someday I might price it but ironically for the subject of this thread I am currently into small ships. Not smaller though, small ships which Royal won’t ever have. So until we can get our old gang back together, or another group which may never happen, that cruise on super mega sized ships I won’t be pricing Icon although I would like too. Have you done Icon yet?
  5. I have never heard of a 2 person booking of a standard stateroom costing more than a 3/4 person in the same cat. booking. Whenever I have gotten quotes it is based on double occupancy and any additional would have an add on. That is the way pricing was for the groups I went with. The 3rd or 4th was cheaper per person but the total cabin price was higher. I have never gotten any quotes for Icon though. No matter the total number of cabins a ship has a maximum capacity based on lifeboats so even if there are 4 beds they can’t sell them if it puts the ship over that maximum capacity.
  6. Aren’t cabins on Royal Caribbean that accommodate 3 or 4 aThe same size as cabins that accommodate two. I have been in standard cabins with sofa beds and pullmans by myself.
  7. Solo travelers have plenty of options on Royal Caribbean ships. The only reason to book a solo cabin is to possibly save money. Adult only cruise lines appeal to couples and solos who don't want children around.
  8. They have solo cabins on some ships. When I went solo I never booked a solo cabin, I stayed in a double by myself. Same with NCL when I went solo I never booked a solo cabin.
  9. They focus on family friendly cruises but they appeal to those going without families. Plenty on their ship for all demographics. I have gone solo on Royal a few times. I have ended up on many Royal sailings because it is well suited for groups that have all ages from children to seniors. If you don't like Royal's focus there are plenty of other cruise lines. Royal is not going to change focus. They have established a family riendly brand.
  10. The New York to Miami I was on where we stopped at Aruba was 9 days. Certainly the Oceania itinerary could have been that number of days or longer.
  11. It applies to any venue that serves specialty coffee. The one in the Oceanview cafe and if you order in the MDR or a specialty restaurant.
  12. They would have had to have stopped at a distant foreign port. They can't violate the PVSA. I don't know which one they stopped at on their sailing but when I did New York to Miami on another cruise line we stopped at Aruba. The three ABC islands are distant foreign ports under the PVSA and the most likely stop of stops on a New York to Miami itineray.
  13. I have never used a lanyard because I have pockets. I get why that some don't have pockets but I do. The card can be in my pocket loose as I wear 5 pocket pants or shorts. I often carry a wallet too. A cheap one for cash. Since I get some free drinks on Celebrity because of CC status I carry about 10 one dollar bills for tips. I always tip the server of the free drinks. I have an Apple Wallet to attach to my iPhone and could put it in that but never have because I am accustomed to the old cards that would get demagnetized. The NFC tap cards are great if the ship uses them. Apple Mag Safe wallet is omething I might do in the future. I would still have to remove the card in many instances.
  14. It might be worth their while to become a TA as they do 4 or 5 cruises a year for 4 or 5 people but what OP needs to consider is that there will be work and time involved and that taxes will have to be paid. OP should also research what commissions will be. My TA who I was good friends sent me a few invoices that showed her commission and it was pretty low. Possibly more than 20 cruises a year would be needed to make it a worthwhile proposition. What I would do is try to find a TA who would give them discounts for guaranteeing a certain number of bookings. If the TA knew that they would get a certain minimum number of bookings they might be willing to discount.
  15. They don’t need to do that. They shouldn’t. They have a valid passport. Neither Bermuda or the US requires six months. They don’t even need a passport for that itinerary.
