Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. For me the more sea days the better. I would never go on a cruise when there is a port each day with maybe one sea day. No way can that be described as a cruise.

    Queen Anne

Is Queen Anne really suited to voyages with lots of sea days? She doesn’t have a proper promenade deck where one can spend the day relaxing and looking at the ocean and also doesn’t have a great amount of open deck space. I think she’s more suited to port intense cruises ie fly cruises to the Mediterranean with only one sea day per 7 day cruise. Queen Victoria, in my humble opinion, is more suited to voyages with lots of sea days. It will be very interesting to read reviews after the first six or so cruises. Don’t think the maiden will be a good one to compare with as only a few sea days and the weather could be poor in May.

    QM2 Cabins

Thank all of you for your replies. It is very useful and much appreciated. Looking to book a long voyage and was unsure what to go for. Even considering a sheltered balcony. All singles already sold.

    QM2 Cabins

Has anyone got pictures of cabins 8013, 8014, 8109 or 8110. Wondered what the obstruction is like. Also which are the better single cabins - deck 2 or 3? Thanking you in advance.
  5. No way has she a passenger capacity of 5,000. Her passenger capacity is just over 3,000. With crew it’ totals over 5,009.
  6. When I first cruised with P&O, albeit many moons ago, drink prices were advertised in the brochures as duty free (which they were), then the advertising changed to shipboard prices, which were still a bit cheaper than at home, but now it’s a cash cow. To be fair, the cruise price is now lower and more accessible to most but the overall product is greatly reduced.
  7. For me Queen Anne is 10% larger than QE and QV but carries 50% more passengers. No promenade deck, very little open deck space except around the pools and an extra bit here and there. The grills terrace is going to packed with rows and rows of loungers - not the type of grills experience I’m looking for. Overall I think this ship is going to be a step change for Cunard. I hope I’m wrong. Waiting to read the first reviews, although some will say it’s marvellous whatever it’s like.
  8. I wonder if Saga will operate a world cruise in 2026. Be nice to have a UK sailing on a premium ship.
  9. Thank you all for taking the trouble in replying to my question. Wondered about a balcony cabin if the price is reasonable. Will have to wait and see when the prices for the cruise I may be interested are announced.
  10. Considering booking one of the single cabins. There are two grades and I don’t know which is the best one to go for. Would appreciate any help. Thanks in anticipation.
  11. I suspect it will be Queen Anne and possibly QM2. I would like to book, which would depend on the itinerary. I looked on the Sydney Cruise Terminal website and Queen Anne is due in mid March, which is a couple of weeks later than usual. So I wonder if she’s undertaking a very different itinerary. Problem with Queen Anne is she doesn’t have a proper promenade deck, just a narrow walk around, and not a great deal of open deck space. Looking forward to reading reviews from passengers on her first cruises.
  12. When do we expect the 2026 world cruise/grand voyages to be published?
  13. I’m sure you will enjoy yourself. Never been on a Cunard cruise that I didn’t enjoy. I did enjoy my P&O cruises.
  14. Megabear 2, who knows we may meet in 2026. I don’t like the look of Queen Anne as her open deck space looks very limited and no proper promenade deck. I think I’ll wait for Cunard 2026 itinerary.
  15. Correct. I am old enough to go on a Saga cruise. Chusan was my first cruise. I was taken by my grand parents. I want to try Saga but I really wanted to visit some far away places. Maybe Arcadia on a world cruise would have an enhanced product - who knows. Today’s ships are a world apart from the old liners - most cabins having no facilities. Not even all first class having facilities.
