Chocoholic Buffet

We really missed the late-night buffet on the Sky too. :( On the 3-night RCCL Majesty, there is a midnight buffet by the pool one night, and it's always fun.

Frankly, we were very surprised that there was no food served at the White Hot Party on the pool deck!

We got the feeling that NCL is really cutting back on extra expenses -- at least on the Sky. They didn't offer anything extra -- just the bare minimum.

Okay, even though I am not a big fan of chocolate, I love sweets; especially cake.

On our first NCL cruise the CB was magnificant. This past March, not so. Almost everything served was simply thaw and serve desserts. Nothing different than what you can get at your local grocery store. Perhaps even a step down. On our upcoming NCL sailing, I may skip it. I don't feel I would be missing much.

 Does anyone know if you can go into the buffet early to take photos? When we went in August the "vultures" had already semi-demolished the buffet before we managed to take photos. We were in the queue early but couldn't believe our eyes at how much people piled on their plates!!

It is disgusting and yet amazing how much they will pile on.

I believe it is usually the next to last night of the cruise, typically..

Does anyone know if VIP's get first dibs? We never go to the choc buffet, have only seen people pass by us with plates piled high.. but was just cruise if we wanted to go see it before people dived into it if we could being VIP's.

No one ever believes me when I say this.. but I am not crazy about chocolate. I'll eat it is there is nothing else around and I REALLY want something sweet.. but on our next cruise I really want to see what it looks like.

Hi, I thought that our August Jade Med. cruise lacked a Chocolate Buffet , so I got out the Freestyle Dailies and found that on the 2nd to last night we had one. It did not make the front page, but had just one lonely line on the back page. It was tucked amongst other restaurant trivia without a single note of fanfare. This saved me about 1,000 to 1,500 calories.

Even missing the Chocolate Buffet, this was a great cruise.

I admit that I piled on a disgusting amount for my first chocoholic buffet....didn't eat very much of it and now I don't even go anymore......Hey, MORE FOR YOU!

I would like to see it sometime before it gets demolished though......and had never before thought of making chocolate sushi or chocolate pizza. (It's a stunning array)

I think it's more attractive than it is tasty.....especially when the chocoholic buffet is held on the pool deck in the middle of a Caribbean sea day. (OMG-there was drippy, runny, melting chocolate left everywhere!)

When is typically held on a 7 day cruise. Will it be advertised/mentioned in the daily updates?

It will be in the Freestlye daily. Also, at the end of the show in the main theatre, the cruise director always announces what's coming up for the rest of the night, and he/she will be sure not to forget to mention it because it's always a huge hit! Just keep an eye out for it. :)

Just got off the Sky two weeks ago and was disappointed that there was no Chocoholic Buffet. Did they take this off all sailings or just the short cruises? I always enjoyed the Chocoholic Buffet and would take that over the White Hot Party anytime!

We had it on the sun in FEb/Mar 08

If you really enjoy good chocolate (Godiva) then the chocoholic buffet is NOT for you.

Cakes...not candy...are served:mad:

The only good part for chocolate lovers is the chocolate fondue and ice cream served at the back of the buffet.

In the end, it is NOT worth walking back to your cabin/suite, viewing all of the chocolate plates, piled up, in the hallway waiting for the cabin stewards to pick them up in the AM...UGH:eek:

IMHO...keep your plates in your cabin until the AM when your CS will collect them or place them in the trash container in your cabin!

In many cases they open a half hour before just for pictures; it's never been a problem.

On one cruise they did the Chocoholic Buffet at 200pm in the afternoon on a sea day. It was kind of like going to tea. Nice.

I always am really careful not to take things on this buffet that I don't really want. There is ususally some over the top chocolate ganache cake that I really want so I just wait for that and the ice cream at the end with the chocolate and white chocolate sauces is to die for.

Terry,

Our Concierge has pick us up early and escorted us to the choc. buffet so we could take pix before everyone else came in. Not all will volunteer to do this--you may have to ask them. See what happens on you upcoming cruise in Oct.:)
