We've done three Halloween cruises over the years. There are always a bunch of people dressed up, and they usually have some kind of costume parade/contest onboard. It depends on the CD--sometimes it's wacky, sometimes more tasteful. Bring your costumes and have lots of fun!

This is a hot topic every year around October. I did a lot of digging on this topic last year and here is what I found and what I was told.

Up until last year it was really up to the CD to decide when he was going to start having Halloween/costume parties. I was told by John Heald last year, that starting in 2009, all cruises sailing Oct. 1st - 31st, will have Halloween/Costume parties/contests. Which night of the cruise is still up to the cruise director. So....if that info is correct...all ships will have them this year.

We love the costume parties. It really is a great chance to let it all out. We really go overboard with it...but it is so fun.

This is why we booked the Splendor 2010. We wanted to have fun on Halloween. Have done the party at my house but wanted someone else to host it! Do they do decorations or anything special beside parade those dressed up around? FYI - We will either be the Biker group or the Caveman group!

We were on the Imagination one Halloween and they did decorate parts of the ship...Like outlines of bodies in the walkway near the Casino and things like that.. DH and I did not dress up, but many were. It was fun!

As others have said, they do put decorations up on prom. for the party. The entertainment staff usually dresses up as well.....I really had the CD on the Triumph wigged out because of my orange contacts. He even took some close ups of my eyes so he could show others.

They really make it a good time...every year it seems to get better as they learn from experience.

I can't wait.

We were on the Valor last year on Halloween (my birthday as well) and will be on the Freedom this year for it. It is a lot of fun. They had a costume mingle in the atrium lobby followed by a parade across the theatre stage that ended with a costume contest. Then everyone went up to the Lido deck for a deck party. Here is our cruise director (Chris) from the Valor:

We were on the Destiny last year for Halloween... it's quite fun!! They even do a trick-or-treat for the little ones. :D

One of the many inflatables (among other stuff):

Some costumes were better than others... LOL:

They even had special desserts in the dining room (it was also formal night, go figure):

Key West was our port that day...
