Epic - Best balcony cabins

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am a relatively new poster so please bear with me. I am sure there will be lots of posts regarding Epic balconies on here but I really could do with just a couple of pointers regarding all the new classifications of cabins.

I have sailed with the Dawn, Jewel and the Pearl and nearly always had a balcony cabin on Deck 10. However, on one trip we did have a mini suite on Deck 11.

Could someone please advise what decks/balconies if any I should avoid. Looking for a decent sized balcony so any hints or tips would be appreciated.

Hi, Has anyone been in or near cabin 13136 or 13134?

I am wondering about the noise level and size of the balcony.

Deck 14 above is a sport deck I think, does the noise travel down?

Are the balconies covered?

Thanks for your help

It is such a big ship, it seems confusing, so many different categories.

I have done much work on that problem.

First of all - avoid Decks 8 and 9.

Better cabins are on the corner of the second hump on both sides of the ship (marked with red dots).

That thread is way too long with over 500 posts to find what i am looking for - did a search and it did not bring up the answer to my question.

I am looking at booking 9114 -- the balcony looks larger than most BB in that category -- port near forward stairs. Anyone know for sure this balcony is larger, as the drawing suggests?

And.... why avoid deck 9???

I was on deck 13 back in August -- LOVE this ship!

Thanks to anyone who knows the answer to my questions.

Why avoid deck 9? Because your balcony will be uncovered and those higher up balconies will be looking down on your balcony.

We stayed in 12242 which is one of the bump out balcony rooms. As indicated by the red dot in the picture except the room is towards the aft.

My apologies to you, Lusitanica, from my post this morning - the computer I was on at the time (at work) blocked all photos -- I had NO idea of the help and extreme effort you've gone to to show folks their cabins!

Man - what a ton of work you have done indeed.... I have no idea how you canf figure out each cabin from the photos -- but kudos to you!!!

Now that I know how smart you are :o ...... would 10116 or 10115 be located in a similar location as another cabin you've shared? the balcony on these 2 look to be a bit larger than the others in the same category - is that correct?

Thanks!

Can you comment on cabin 9025? I know it's on deck 9 but it appears to be partially covered and larger than average. Your pics and comments will be appreciated.

We were in 11021 and the balcony was big enough for two loungers and two chairs and tiny table. We had our steward bring us the loungers, since the standard balcony seemed to only have the 2 regular chairs. It was the same size balcony we had on the Gem ( 10168, I think) which was supposedly an upgrade. We enjoyed the Epic immensely :)

Hi Lusitanica,

The work you have done here is amazing! Thanks so much for your insights. I just joined this forum because I am going on a cruise Dec. 17th (probably) on the Epic with my hubby and very active 13 year old daughter. She is looking forward to the slide and other activities. It's our first cruise and some friends will also be going and they want to depart from Miami around that time frame. There was also Carnival Glory, but it didn't thrill my daughter as much, and seemed older.

We're non-smokers and concerned about cigarette smoke coming from the other balcony cabins. I want a really nice view and quiet. I read that cabins near the front were best for avoiding people smoking from their balconies at the same time we're out there. Which balconies would you recommend?

Appreciate any advice you can give.

Thanks so much.

We were aft 13278 & loved it so much we booked it again.

Hi,

we are staying in 13278 on the 2nd of October. Hope you don't mind if I ask some questions.

What is the balcony like, looks like it is semi enclosed from the photo's I've seen, do you have any photos. Were you able to get sun lounges on your balcony.

I've seen posts motion issues, I don't think this will be an issue but it would be nice to hear your opinion. Also noise levels. I chose the room thinking it is a nice quiet spot what do you think?

Any photos of the room you would like to share would be appreciated.

Regards

Deb

Not true! We were in 9075 and were not overlooked and were perfectly happy with our balcony. It is true to say that parts of deck 9 are uncovered and overlooked but not all.

Is it true elevators are only in front or back of ship so lots of walking back to cabins

yes -- that is true........ There is one staircase entering O'Sheehan's and one escalator from the casino -- these are both mid ship. Check the deck plans on the NCL website.

We were amazed at the 'traffic control' and never felt the ship was crowded nor did it seem a long haul from aft to forward in the public areas....... not sure WHY we felt this way....but we were happy about it!

I chose our cabin to be located very near the entrance to the stairs/elevators and so glad we did -- as the walk down the NARROW hallways to the cabin (when we visited a friend toward midship) seemed to go on F o r e v e r .... the halls are convoluted and can be quite confusing -- again - look at the deckplans before you choose your cabin.

We LOVE the EPIC and I hope to sail on her again in a few years.

Only if you're on the sides. An aft balcony on deck 9 is completely covered, the back of the ship is vertical. I was in an aft on 9 last month and loved it. You can watch the wake from your balcony, and there's no wind.

Glad to hear you loved it so much. I booked 13099. In hindsight I should have booked more forward. I thought I was doing good booking closer to mid so not right under the kids club. I didn't realize about no mid ship elevator, never dawned on me. Do you think I am far from the elevator? It didn't seem too bad on the website but of course that is not the same as walking it. I guess it's considered mid ship but it seems I guess forward mid. Any idea if we have a decent balcony? Thanks.

We have cabin 12091, its a B6 large balcony, near mid ship elevators.

Any pictures by chance from outside?

Can you ask for extra chairs for the balcony, our dd & sil are across the hall in 12089, so we can share our balcony with them easily.

Many cabins have been reassigned, so you have to check the before May 11 or after May 11, to see how yours is classified. Our cabin was classified cheaper prior to May.
