could some one tell or show me pictures of the obstructive oceanviews on deck 8 of the ncl dawn. I have a taken a few cruises with me husband, but this trip we are taking our two boys, 10 &16 and wanted to save a little. It will save us about $350 and that would be a lot of extra spending money. please help...

Sorry I do not have any pictures. I have had the obstucted view room twice on the Dawn and have one for my up coming sailing on the Gem. Try to get a room that appears to be "in between" 2 life boats. That might give you a little better view. I love the location of the 8th floor. One or two flights down to shops, casino, and bars. Have a great cruise..

I guess you feel it is worth the savings then. I think it would be worth it just to be on deck 8. Can you see some of the ocean and not just the back of a boat. Thanks for the help.....

I've been on other cruise lines with obstructed views and its not that bad -- as long as you can see the weather.
Trust me, you are not i your cabin much anyway and if you are, you are missing a lot.
Save the money and book Deck 8...
I am cruising in March on the Dawn - Deck 8 cabin 8612...

I have been in these cabins on deck 8 on both the Dawn and the Jewel. The cabin is inset. You can not see up or down but can see straight out. Be fore warned that the area outside these obstructed view cabins is very bright at night as it is has lots of lights outside. Also be prepared to see crew members outside the window often.

if you are an early to bed family, that the forward obstructed view cabins are also over the Dazzles nightclub. .. reverb and base were hard to ignore well past 1am. Barb

I had an obstructed view on the Dawn when I was on her in June. The room I had was completely obstructed by a lifeboat, but my parent's room down the hall was great. Almost no obstruction to their room at all. (Except for the occasional deck hand outside their window...haha!)

My only problem is that all of these rooms are on Deck 8 of the Dawn, which I personally think is a horrible deck. It is very twisty, and has multiple turns. I prefer a deck where I can see straight down the hall from forward to aft, but that just may be me. I know for she it confused the heck out of my grandparents...

We were on the Dawn 11-1-09 Repo in cabin 8078. Here are pictures from our window, and the interior of the cabin. We have had insides, oceanviews (obstructed and regular) and balconies. We didn't keep the curtains open during the day, as occassionally, there were crew members outside the windows on the walkway by the lifeboats. It wasn't a problem though. We enjoyed having the window, rather than an inside, and it was a nice savings in money to be spent elsewhere. Hope this helps you out.

We sailed on the Dawn a few years ago with an obstructed view room. The room itself was fine. The only problem we had was when the we were at ports that we tendered to the dock. The lifeboats are used as the tenders. If they are using your side of the boat to tender then it will be noisy when they are preparing the lifeboats for tendering and alot of crew members outside.

I recently sailed in 8626. It an accessable cabin, but we were given it anyway (we booked late and that's all NCL had left). Some of the obstructed cabins have two small windows, but ours had one fairly large one window. We could see straight out, but not up or down. We could hear some cheers from Pearly Kings Pub below during football games; it was not loud enough to be bothersome, kind of fun to hear happy fans. Crew were only outside window one day. Found the location to be convenient-one deck from Promenade, close to restaurants, bars and morning coffee in Blue Lagoon. I liked it better than the small porthole I had on a previous cruise.

I loved being on Deck 8 but I must agree about the twists and turns. I felt like a rat in a maze.

I found a pic of the view from Dawn 8626. I'll try to attach it.

Thanks so much for posting these pictures!! We are sailing in 8088 in May and I was getting concerned about lack of light because of the obstruction, but these pictures put my mind at ease! We're one cabin over from where 8078 is in relation to the boat, so I understand we wont see any water, but at least we'll see light. Your photos were also helpful with confirming how awful the TV is LOL. DH wanted to bring a laptop to watch movies if we get rain or get tired or sick, and I said "well, we dont know that the TVs are THAT bad yet!"....well now we do! haha!

I know Dawn is going into drydock, (and we'll be the first ones on!) but I doubt they'll be replacing the TV's...

Can anyone tell me where the refridgerator is in that photo?

Thanks!

Thanks, thats what I thought. Is it above where the soda is? Or is it that small that is in the same cubby with the soda?

Another question-in the category description from NCL, it says there is a convertible sofa for additonal guests. We are only 2 in the room, but I dont see a sofa in your room? Just want to know what to expect We are new to the Dawn, I miss the Spirit already....

From NCL:

Category: OK

Description: These Oceanview Staterooms that have a porthole with an obstructed view, can accommodate up to four guests. Includes two lower beds that convert into a queen-size bed and a convertible sofa to sleep two more. And of course you'll have access to room service and tons of other great amenities on board.

**Scratch that-I just realized these are the descriptions for AFTER the dry-dock, so maybe they are adding sofas. The current description doesnt mention the sofas
