This is great news. Does this mean I can take buy a 24 hour travel card for 120 SEK to ride from S167 to Vasa via Emelie? They haven't updated their fare/tickets info page to include this.

Well that is what it says at the SL-link, that the deal only is valid for SL's period cards/tickets

which are these: https://sl.se/sv/kop-biljett/#/periodbiljett

We are staying at the Radisson Blu Waterfront. We want to take the fastest way possible to get to the Vasa Museum and get there at opening or soon thereafter. We do have the Stockholm pass with travel card. Could you, please, advise me the best way? Thank you so much in advance.

Also, is the reason you don't advocate the HOHO route because it is slower and have to wait for it at stops longer? I was telling my husband that you don't really advise that route but couldn't answer his question as to why. Thanks

Fastest way is bus 69 towards Blockhusudden or Kaknästornet (it doesn't matter which). get off

at Djurgårdsbron and follow the signs across the bridge to Vasa.

Bus leaves from Klaravbergsviadukten (bus stop in foregrund) and I think you should be able to exit

the hotel near the bus stop, The hotel staff should be able to help you with directions.

Regarding HoHo (from a pure transport perspective)

Buses are expensive, slow and does not go in a linear order.

Boats only goes clockwise and stops at many places. If you want to go from Vasa to the Royal Palace,

you will board at Vasa but the HoHo boat will stop at Skeppsholmen, Allmänna gränd, Cruise ship berth at Stadsgårdskajen,

Fotografiska museet (at the small cruise ship berth at Stadsgården), Slussen/south part of Old Town

before the boat reaches the northern stop in Old Town, in front of the Royal Palace.

Time schedule says 30 minutes from Vasa to Royal palace.

Djugårdsfärjan have an enroute time of 8 minutes but it adds walking time, total time 25-30 minutes.

Bus #76 (until June 22nd) would take maybe 20 minutes. Both it and Djurgårdsfärjan (until June 18th) have

one departure every 15 minutes. The HoHo boats only have one departure every 20 minutes.

You have also already paid for public transport since the travel card is included in the Stockholm pass.

If you decide to use HoHo boats/buses, then you have paid for the travel card in vain.

A HoHo boat 24 hour pass will cost you about 200 SEK each on top of the cost for the Stockholm pass.

I am not going to tell you what to do, only how to do what you want to do.

BTW, Ressel rederi confirms on their website that all SL time period cards are valid for M/S Emelie until October 2nd this fall.

Today is Walpurgis night in Sweden. Basically the purpose of it is to celebrate the arrival of the spring.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walpurgis_Night

Needless to say, the weather doesn't always cooperate with the arrival of the spring thing. ;)

April 30th is also H. M. the King's birthday.

We'll be in Stockholm during Midsummer weekend. Any suggestions for restaurants that will be open for dinner on Friday, June 23? Will most be open for dinner on June 22? Thanks.

For the 22nd I think most restaurants would be open as usual.

For the midsummer weekend though, I don't know and I think it likely differers from one restaurant to another.

I think that the only way to find out is to check with the restaurant itself since they are likely the only ones that knows if they are open or not.

However I did a table reservation search on Trip Advisor and it seems restaurants are open during Midsummer.

As for advices, I have some links posted in the 2nd post of this thread, under the headline "Where to eat." (almost at the end).

Desdichado62, thanks for sending the links and I'll be checking out the info. I had e-mailed a few on TripAdvisor and those were closed on June 23. I know hotel restaurants will be open for the weekend and the Radisson Blu Waterfront's restaurant, where we're staying, is open although I would rather not have dinner there. We embark for our cruise on June 24 with an overnight so we'll be having dinner on the ship that night.

Desdichado62, thanks for the further suggestion. I was checking Glam Stan restaurants and Corvina Enoteca looks like a good option. Their website allows booking for June 23 but I e-mailed them to get confirmation.

I could use your help with another question. We would like to buy a 24 hour transit pass. Do we have to buy the SL access card first and then load it or is there just a one time 24 hour pass? Does the 24 hours begin with your first use? We don't want to use the phone or text app and we don't have a chip and pin card to use a ticket machine.

We will end our Baltic Sea cruise on the Viking Star in Stockholm; docking at Stadsgarden Cruise Terminal on July 14, 2017 and disembarking on Saturday, July 15. We have a flight to Amsterdam at 9:35 a.m. on KLM. There are four of us in our group (women aged 70), and would appreciate information on the recommended way to get from the ship to the airport and how early we should arrive at the airport. I think we might prefer a taxi or private car, so we don't have to deal with our luggage. Since it's a Saturday, will the traffic be less of an issue? Thank you very much.

Desdichado62,

Thank you for all of your helpful advice. We are arriving on the Crown Princess on July 13 at Frihamnen. I see there is a sales point for travel cards right at the end of Frihamnen (thanks to your link). Do you think we will be able to buy two 24 hour travel cards with cash (Swedish Krona)? Thanks for your help!

The 24 hour ticket is available as both an one time ticket and on the access card and yes it is 24 hours from first use.
