Beach for the day in Corfu

We would like to go to a beach for a few hours on Corfu, can't be too far from the cruise port as we are only there form 10.00 - 4.00 but happy to take a taxi. Would ideally like a sandy beach, good sea swimming and sunbeds on offer. Any suggestions?

Corfu has some wonderful sandy beaches but unfortunately not close to the port. This is one island where a short trip to a sandy beach is not easy. I would explore the town instead and choose another port for your beach day.

How expensive is it to get a taxi to Glyfada and/or Paleokastritsa? are they good beaches for a day visit?

Definitely NOT Glyfada beach - we were there last August and it was terrible - run down and dirty and a bit of a drive- go to Paleokastrikas but it is much further...

We took a taxi for 80 euros (speendy, but worth it) to Kontoyalos beach (20 min away from port) and spent the day at Spyros. Great sunbeds, great drinks (Ouza on ice was refreshing) and amazing Greek food. I highly recommend. Watch the taxi drivers though. Some quotes 100-150 euros. Our driver took us and picked us up and we laid him at the end.
