Taxi or Shuttle from Athens Airport to City Center?

We will fly into Athens International airport and will stay near Temple of Zeus area. Which is more economical - taxi or shuttle? Any idea what the ball park price is between the two (roundtrip)? I would like a baseline so I know if I am quoted a fair price.

We took the X95 bus from the airport to Syntagma Square. 5 euros per person, and it was a piece of cake.

Hey, you can do the bus for really cheap. We are staying in Piraeus next month. However, the bus was going to take 1h30 v 40 mins in a taxi. Our hotel quoted us a taxi at €49 one way. We've just booked that.

That taxi price seems to be about right +/- a few Euro.

Another option is the subway to Syntagma. From there it's not a long walk to the hotels in the area yo booked ( or a cheap and quick taxi ride)

I just did this again 3 days ago.

From hotel by the Acropolis museum to the airport I paid Euro 45 for car organised by the hotel.

Metro line 3 (the blue line) takes around 45 minutes from the city centre (Syntagma square) +/- a few minutes from other stations.

Tickets cost Euro 10 p.p., but trains seem to run only every half hour!

With a lot of luggage I don't think it's worth it if it's 2 or 3 of you

We were in Athens in June. We got a taxi: it was 40 euros each way.
