Fate of the Fancy Snorkel Trail

In over 2 weeks, I haven't had any replies to this on the private islands board, so I decided to try here ...

Since NCL is selling the Fate of the Fancy Snorkel Trail as an excursion, do you still have to pay even if you have your own snorkel equipment, or is the charge basically for the equipment?

Thanks!

The trail is open to everyone on the island. We brought our own snorkel/mask and were able to do the trail (the white buoys mark where the items are). The gear might take up valuable luggage space but it'll save you $$ to bring your own.

It's just a fancy way to say "rent our snorkel gear". You can get the trail map at ShoreEx.

Actually, the trail has not been maintained that well. Some of the markers no longer exist. The basic idea is that there is "debris" from a pirate ship scattered in the lagoon. Since a lot of the lagoon is sandy, the debris provides a place that attracts fish. You need to find real rocks in the lagoon to get some good fish. There is a rocky spot not to far from shore in front of the Bacardi bar. Then out closer to the big rocks breakwater. Because the bottom is a lot of crush coral fill, the water gets silty fast.
