1A to 4B for $50 bucks.... yes or no?

1A is forward on deck 2 with a sofa bed and a twin. 2 portholes

maybe noisy from the waves/anchor

4B is AFT on deck 2 with 2 twins... no window

Cabin would be fairly quiet

VIFP offer would be $50 more total to move to the 4B

Good idea?

I would rather have the porthole cabin, even at the same price.

I like the idea of the port holes as well. It beats paying $300pp more for a regular OV cabin.

Its Just the potential noise from the waves does not sound good. But never stayed so far forward,

Is the noise a problem for you? and are you willing to give up that ray of natural light through the portholes?, then it might be worthwile.

For me it would not be worthwhile, since I love dont have a problem with the usual noise of that room (had one before), also I had no problem with the motion of that room, ( it was noticeable, but not bad ). Also I would not pay 50.00 to give up my ray of light through those portholes. Bed configuration does not matter to me since I cruise solo. I would not pay 50 dollars for what might or might not be a quieter room, without a porthole. Just me though, depending on what is important to you, you might want to give some consideration. Have a good one.:)

when I had one of those rooms before, I was concerned pre cruise, as I had not had one of those before, but because I read these boards, and knew what caused the noise, then when I was actually underway, and heard those noises, knowing what they were, what caused them, I was ok with it. For me, it was just knowing what the noises were.

I actually slept very well on that cruise. (a long island ice tea, night cap, probably had something to do with that):D

Well.. Noise isnt a deal killer if its not REALLY LOUD.

Since you have had one and are saying its not bad.

I may just keep it and the portholes

For only $50 heck yeah I would do it. Nice big bed plus it's aft - my favorite spot. Been in my share of 1As and the forward ones would be the last resort ones for me. Mom stayed there twice. Once in 2217 and this last time in 2202. I was laughing when they said it sounded like bombs going off. I visited one night and it sure did! Glad I moved from 2207 which is what I originally had booked to one that was aft as I would NOT have been a happy camper!

it was not bad for me...and I must say that at home, I am really noise sensitive, but just knowing what that noise was, both at night (waves hitting the bow) and early am into port of call (docking noises), I was ok with it all. I guess it would depend on whether noise keeps you awake or not, or if you are a light sleeper.

I just find that if I know what causes the noise, I am usually ok with it. It is when there is a noise that I cannot identify, that it keeps me awake all night wondering what it is, if there is something wrong somewhere etc. I admit that there are times when I am very annoyed by noises, but the one time I had a porthole room (Freedom, main deck), the noises, and there were definitely noises, they did not bother me. we are all different, but I would rather have the porthole.

Yes bomb noise!! Have to admit, I almost wet my pants when my sister told me as the look on her face was priceless. She can be overly dramatic sometimes, but she was telling the truth. Inside I was smirking a little though. Hahahaha. You could hear a pin drop where I was.

At least you will have 2 "real beds" though instead of a regular bed and the sofa as the other one.

I would switch in a heartbeat. And you know me - I am CHEAP but $50 is a bargain and you have more potential for price drops since there are less 1A rooms to choose from. I wouldn't count on that part, but you never know.

I have since seen that you are travelling with a child/or your kid? did not notice that earlier, so that is also something to consider. Will our child be upset by the noise? In this case, I might give some thought to a quieter room without a porthole. OK..sometimes I waffle:D

You never know. But anyway, it would still be a better room. Are you going to switch or do I need to wish you a "Bomb Voyage"?! LOL I kill me sometimes :D:p;)

Im still on the fence on it. I like the port holes but not the thunder at night

Keep in mind that aft is no guarantee that it's going to be quiet. We've done aft a couple of times, and when the oceans are rough, the rumble can be quite bothersome. On the Liberty, our aft cabin shook so violently for 2 days that it seemed like wall fixtures and ceiling panels were going to fall right off.

I would prefer a porthole cabin ANY DAY, no matter the location. In fact, that's what I have booked for our next cruise! [emoji2]

I've been in Porthole forward cabins, and interior aft ones also. I love the little view you get with the PH's and wouldn't switch. I didn't fine the noise annoying and slept very well, remember the motion will be stronger in the forward cabin.

I would stay where I was, but that's me.

If you sleep late, take the aft cabin. The anchor and thrusters are noisy and you will feel there vibes while docking. Alot.

Good luck and have fun! p.s. the port hole is a perfect place for a kid to sit! I even sat in there. It's like a little tunnel.

Bon Voyage!

Well... Rough water surely changes everything.

We have sailed Splendor twice before with AFT cabins and loved it.

I may just keep the 1A and bring ear plugs

It's up to you, but again, I would switch. For only $50 it's worth it to me. Can't really see too much out of the portholes even though they are nice for some natural light. But the constant banging would make me miserable. I have stayed aft 6 out of my last 7 Carnival cruises and would much rather have the consistency of the vibration/white noise effect vs "The Gong Show" going on when trying to sleep.

Here's the pic I found somewhere (not mine) and kept sending to my mom and sister before we left. While I realize aft wouldn't come out unscathed, it wouldn't be nearly as bad as forward.

And yes I have stayed all the way forward before. We had the running joke that the shuddering and banging were due to us hitting whales. It was really bad. I had never been so sleep deprived on a cruise before.

That's what I kept explaining to them that if the ship hit rough waves, the worst place is in the front. Just like "Deadliest Catch". But really they couldn't move anywhere else as no one wanted to sleep on the top bunk so there they were. It was too much to upgrade since my sister had a Casino Rate on the 1A at $309pp.

I was in 1426 and it was really quiet. I love the 1st floor!
