Do not get hung-up on the Circumvesuviana schedule. Trains run every 30 minutes between Naples and Sorrento (with stops at both Pompeii and Ercolano). These are commuter-type trains with no reservations so its just a matter of getting to the station, buying your ticket, getting down to the platform, and catching the next train.
