Proper Attire for the Theatre

I will be in London (post cruise) for a couple of days, and might see The Phantom of the Opera at Queen's Theatre. It will be on a Monday evening. What would be proper attire? Could I "Get Away" with slacks and a Polo Shirt?

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

Sadly, these days there is no dress code for the theatre. You will see all sorts and on a warm summer day people dressed more for the beach than theatre. Dressing up to go to the theatre has gone.

I have never understood the hype about Phantom. I thought it was boring and wanted it to be over.

Even locals do the same.

We saw Les Miz when we were there last month. I wore a nice dress and my husband and son wore shirt & tie. Yes, we were definitely among the very few dressed up. I was actually surprised. I guess I didn't realize the theater had become so casual. So you'll certainly be fine.
