Wine Menu/Selections at Dinners

I'll be on my first Princess (Emerald) cruise next week and was wondering what the situation is re wines or wine menus at the MDR dinners. Am I to presume dinner and wine selections are the same or similar to any nice restaurant making available a fair amount to choose from? I'm absolutely not a connoisseur -- a house red is often fine with me -- but was just wondering how extensive their wine list is, and would our server(s) be knowledgeable enough to recommend same (or heck, even if there's a sommelier at hand -- not that I'd know what to do with HIM, really).

Beyond that, if things get confusing and/or I get impatient, am I at liberty to simply order a martini or an Old Fashioned?

Mike...here's the most recent list I've seen posted from 9/14 by "IECalCruiser" and it appears to be what was available in the dining room on the Regal in April. Vines & some bars may have additional choices but this is what you could expect to have in the MDR.

No Sommelier's anymore but many waiters can make suggestions. The DR's will have a number of the less expensive wines on the list available by the glass. All beverages including wine by the bottle or glass have a 15% gratuity added. If you don't finish a bottle, you can have your waiter store it for the next night. Your waiter the next night can retrieve your partial bottle even if you eat at a different restaurant. You can also order a wide variety of cocktails if you prefer. Enjoy you first Princess cruise Mike!

Thanks IECC (I'm a fellow Left Coaster too BTW). I esp like the partial bottle information -- which I'd actually heard on several occasions (but cramming w/all these questions over the last two months, some things I've forgotten). All in all it sounds very flexible and even stately. OK, let's get on this darn ship now; I think I've asked every question I could have possibly, uh, thunk (haha). - Mike
