Hi

I have been there for a few years. I did post a link maybe 2 years ago. But they will be going dark soon. The polar batteries will die. No one there to recharge them. Its a long winter without them. There were about 15-20 bears at the falls in the summer this year. One of my favorite bears disappeared last year. Still hoping he is else where.

Rangers also have chats and will also post to thinks happening. The are closed now

for winter

Mary.

The bear cam is up and running. Remember if you are going to watch the cam, theses bear are in the wilds of Alaska. Some time there are things that they do that you might not like. EX. fight, mate etc. But you can learn a lot about them. Great to look at before you HAL Alaskan cruise.

I saw another live cam perhaps last June or July. It was off Vancouver island I believe, but was definitely live panorama of the strait where, periodically, a whale, or seal, or whatever would swim by. Can anybody save me a lengthy search to try to find it!? Thx.

Of course I found it when I went to the photos under the cam link above. Simply click on photo of orcas, and there you are., sorry for the off track post.

Thanks for bringing this thread back. I just watched it for about 30 minutes and saw six different bears including a mother with 2 cubs. Very interesting and probably a bit addictive. Three of the bears seemed to be fishing in the stream but not having a lot of success. I assume that will change when the salmon really start to run.

I also find it a bit addictive too. Three bears at the falls now. The fish are starting to come up stream. Can't wait till they are jumping out of the water. Alaska is beautiful, one of my favorite cruises that I been on.

The bear viewing season has started. They are now back at the river feeding on salmon. Remember this is a live cam with wild bears. So, you might see any type of bear behavior. Sometime nature is harsh.

On the bear web site. They have a icon of a camera, which you can click on and take a picture of what the cam is showing. One of the members just took this photo. I just can't resist sharing here.
