Proof of stock ownership.

Will HAL acknowledge receipt of our sending in a copy of our brokerage statement as proof of Carnival stock ownership for us to get the onboard credit or will it just appear on our account? Since this is a fourteen day cruise the credit should be $250.00 . Should cover half of the bar bill :) .

I got an email from Holland (worldcruisereservations@hollandamerica.XXX) when the stockholder credit was applied.

Put your email address on the request and you should hear back quite quickly, especially if you fax during business hours. The longest it's taken us to get a response is 45 minutes - and I think that's because we faxed during lunch. The shareholders' desk is one well oiled machine.

Sometimes you have to call to get confirmation. I requested a response on our cruise next week but never received one so I called and they verbally confirmed it. Our booking was with a TA.

This is a wonderful shareholder benefit. Maybe eventually they'll accept emailed PDF scans of your proof. We sent it that way last time, but were informed they'd confirm it but only as an exception that one time.

They really want it faxed or mailed, it seems.

I use USPS to send my request for the Shareholder Benefit. I always ask that my travel agent be informed of the approval of the benefit (and I provide their phone number and their fax number) or ask that that I be informed providing my e-mail address. Usually, I will receive an e-mail directly from HAL and also a confirmation sent by my travel agent.

Always. however, I will take with me a print out of that approval. Just in case.

We FAX our proof of ownership with a covering letter ourselves to World Cruise Reservations & ask that HAL confirm it by e-mail.. We don't get our TA involved with it..It's always done promptly... Never has been a problem but we always take HAL's confirmation with us..:)

How many shares of stock do i need in order to get these benefits? And I knew it worked on princess but it works on Holland as well? What about on Carnival?

If you bought 100 shares (or more) of Carnival Corp. I suggest that you go here....http://www.carnivalcorp.com and familiarize yourself with where your money went! :D

Carnival

Aida

Seybourn

Princess

Holland America

Cunard

I was just looking at that sheet this morning to fax in our proof for an August cruise. $250 worth of OBC is a very nice shareholder benefit, to be sure.

Maybe it's always said this, but today I noticed for the first time their statement that it cannot be used to pay for gratuities or in the casino.

By the way, I understand that RCCL shareholders have a similar benefit but that it can't be combined with any other promo offers - like the "Go Big" etc on Celebrity. Fortunately, CCL hasn't taken that position so far.

I know that's what the statement says but it's not true. I used mine for both two weeks ago on the NA. And I've done the same on many other HAL ships.

What HAL says and what they are able to track/enforce are two different things when it comes to on board credit and your bill.

I've done the same, figured it probably hadn't changed.

This a.m., DH dropped by the bank to use their fax machine and he had an email before he got home confirming the OBC. It was also in our travel agency's record. They're very efficient in that department!

About 60 days out from our cruise we send a copy of our most recent stock statement to our TA showing that we still own Carnival stock.

She takes care of the rest and sends us a copy that it has been approved.

same for me - just send a blacked out investment statement with only my name and the shares listed to me TA

I followed your advice and added my email address. Thanks for the tip! I faxed if at 4pm on Friday PST and received an email confirmation first thing on Monday. Fabulous!

I always fax it in in the am. Later the same day I receive an email telling me the benefit has been added and to have a nice cruise. I always include my email in the letter. Have never had a problem. Its almost too easy. I hope they continue this for many years.

We have been getting stockholder credit on nearly every cruise for the past 25+ years. We simply own 100 shares of both RCI and CCL, which are the investments that keep on paying. RCI is not quite as good since their companies will often refuse to "stack" OBCs. But on HAL we have never had a problem. In fact, this past Tuesday we faxed a cover letter to HAL along with a copy of our latest proxy statement and a current brokerage statement (blacked out items not relevent) for a last minute HAL booking (Zuiderdam in July). In our cover letter we request that HAL e-mail us back a confirmation that we were granted the credit. This week we had that e-mail back from HAL within 15 minutes of faxing the request.

We print-out the confirmation letter from HAL and take it along on our cruise. If the OBC does not show on our onboard statement we simply go to Guest Relations with a copy of the paperwork and all is quickly fixed. The credit is simply added to your on board account, and we have never had any kind of issue of OBCs not being valid for certain type expenses such as gratuities. Where there can be an issue is that if you have some OBC remaining at the end of a cruise and seek a refund (in cash or credit). They will not refund HAL given OBCs such as the stockholder credit.

You need 100 shares of Carnival Corp stock. It will also work on Carnival.
