neoRomantica at Feb/Mar - weather

Hi there,

We consider joining neoRomantica cruise at late Feb / early Mar 2017.

The main question is the weather.

- Is the sea usually rough at that time? Considering ship size (we were on Diadema two years ago at a winter storm, but tilt was minimal due to the size)

- Does port cancellation common then? (noticed few posts on such cases)

- Is the humidity bearable at the (various) ports?

- Cyclones - suppose there is one around, how would itinerary look like? changed on a daily basis according to Cyclone progress, or remain far away (i.e. cruise around Seychelles in case of a storm around Eastern Madagascar)

Thanks!

Just a standard reply as not sure where Romantica is in spring 2017.

It is usual practice for cruise ships to avoid the worst bad weather, regardless of where they are cruising.

Itineraries would be change according to ships safety, as do port stops if Captain feels it is putting ship in danger.

Just return from the neoRomantica, had a great time - more later. To answers your questions:

a. No one can predict what the weather will be that far in advance, we had perfect cruising weather 10th. - 23rd. Dec.

b. Port cancellations are very infrequent on this route, Costa does not like them as they loose money on their shore excursions canellation.

c. Humidity, difficult to say as it depends on various factors, age build, fitness, if it had just rained etc. We never had any problems, lost a few liters during the day but the AI drinks package made up any short fall.

d.Cyclones are very well tracked (mainly because of the US base at Diego Garcia). If there is one about then it will be monitored closely, could be the itinerary could be rearranged, i.e. Reuion first and Seychelles last. There was an event some years ago wherethe cruise was started in Seychelles, Costa flying the passengers in Mauitius to Victoria.

Make sure that you give Costa a mobile phone number where you can bereached at anytime - just be prepared.
