More food porn ! - Maine Lobster/Surf&Turf MDR

Recommended Posts

So I can use up my non refundable OBC, I plan to pay the extra for either the Maine Lobster or Surf n` Turf in the main dining room most nights during my forthcoming cruise on the Indy.

Does anyone have any pics of these dishes? :D:D:D

We really missed out on this. We only ate at one speciality restaurant, and made our reservation for the second formal evening. As it happens, we had a terrible meal at 150 Central Park. To make matters worse, we learnt afterwards that we had missed lobster night.

I'm just curious....

I've seen a multitude of lobster pics from the MDR, but I've never seen butter with it... do they serve butter with the lobster?

They do offer more butter.

And this is the lobster that is served in the MDR for a small upcharge?

This was free and they encouraged seconds. If I didn't order my appetizer, I would have had seconds. :p:D

The waiter comes by with the butter and spoons it on if you want it.

K i know its prob just me lol and no ive never eaten lobster so yes ill prob try it, but why does that pic remind me of some wee beastie from a DR WHO episode !

Never thought of it quite like that. The strange things, I only crave lobster when onboard a cruise ship, despite the fact they fish them out of the sea not haf a mile from my home !

Menus are posted outside the MDR each day showing what is offered for dinner that evening. You can also ask to see the menus for a future night if you want to make sure you don't miss out on a particular entree. The specialty restaurants also usually have the MDR menus for you to look at, so if you make your reservation while on board, just ask to see the menu for MDR so you can change nights if needed.

Wow, that looks much better than the last MDR lobster I had on RCI. I've heard that their MDR food has improved recently, and I hope that's true because I thought it was pretty bad last time.

That's not what we got 2 weeks ago, we got the southern lobsters. Pale colored, spotted. They offered the maine lobster for $30.

It wasn't bad, it wasn't good. But it wasn't the red north atlantic lobsters on the IOS a week ago.

the upcharge lobster is the north atlantic lobster (red with front claws). The standard one they serve is the southern lobster, pale colored with dots, no front claws.

If you really like lobster go for the paid lobster. The other one wasn't bad it just takes like a really big shrimp.

Well, I sure hope it is easier to buy one that to find a photo ! ;)

I'd like to see a picture too. I saw the item on the MDR menu. I believe the extra cost was $37. I love a good surf and turf, but based on the almost inedible shrimp cocktail I had on day one, I was hesitant to order this.
