Transatlantic Crossing Blog Links?

Any TA blog links this year? Charlie? :D

Jim, thanks for checking. As you know in past years I've always had the link and happily posted it. This year, though, is different and I'm not aware at this point that there is or will be a link. We've read HH's thoughts on that topic and I believe that he is correct that there will not be an opportunity for non Crossers to follow along vicariously.

However, I will tell you based on first hand information that the SD2 crossing is off to a very good start. HH and Blondie are on board and ready for a lovely time. There a smaller supply of Red Stripe on board for the journey than anticipated but the demand dissipated just prior to sail away.

All in all, I'm predicting a fabulous eastbound crossing this year and expecting regular and newsy updates from our friend HH assuming that he is able to avoid the gym long enough each day to post here.

Sorry that I don't have the link to post but rest assured that a good time will be had by those aboard and that with our faithful scribe HH on the scene we'll hear all the news that's fit to report.

Hopefully hum avoids the golf s(t)imulator long enough each day as well.:D

Very entertaining start of the journey with a yummy soup of the jour/day/week/month/year/decade (?), history-charged taxirides with gang members and lovely tiny boutique hotels with complimentary "carvery" for breakfast - just carry on, old chap - it's better much better than the official SD-blog! ;)

  • 5 months later...

While on board last month, Jeff mentioned issues with posting pictures and names (privacy and all that) was limiting SD's ability to most much anymore. Maybe that is why they don't have the blogs??

Sounds about right.......there are a lot of "shady" characters on these voyages !

Let's just say, they would be none too happy having their images blasted around the internet.....

Xings on small boats are often used by the criminal underworld with hired assassins getting in and out of the country.

H locks his cabin door every night and always carries a "shank" !

H wouldn't do the xing without Colonel Clint being onboard, just in case of trouble. Always handy in a knife fight !

Be safe Karen. Remember, during the evacuation, be sure to take with you your jewels and your SeaDream confirmation. :D:D

There isn't time for Lady V to take ALL her jewellery Jim !

Just take the diamonds (over 3 carats) Lady V.

Talking of the Hurricane.

We have chums staying with us..........yes SD chums.

Interesting couple, they supply all the ancillary crew on cruise ships.

Their home is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

They must have had 20 calls last night from the States with updates, calls from family, office etc....

Blondie cooked a fantastic dinner for them and H supplied the liquid refreshment to ease their anxiety about home.

Funny thing is, we will be in Barcelona the same time as us awaiting our Transatlantic xing departure on SDII whilst they are sailing on Celebrity.

They asked us to join them just outside Barcelona: they are staying at a fabulous winery there.

But unfortunately it will involve too many last minute changes AND we have more chums staying in Barcelona before departure.

Some astute "settlers" from the Northern wildness (above Trumpland) may notice the champagne/wine cooler purchased when visiting these two "natives".

We hope ALL chums are OK in the areas effected by Hurricane M.

And Very smart, too. So you found the screw, or did a craftsman at the village forge set you up?

Hum had a "screw loose" !

Well really !!

No, Hum went to the local hardware store.

Been in the same family since 1899 !

Known 4 generations of the family: all good people.

If you had ANY kind of thing to fix, they would have a solution.

They still sell small quanties, even single items of components (like a washer) today.

The big store chains sell packets of 10 for silly prices.

The staff need Hum's assistance.

You get so much more from the "little guy"; that's why H loves SD.

Yes but the world is changing Hum.

Maybe for you it is.

Hum knows the difference between authenticity and indifferent, mass production and service and H is sure there remains a market for this niche category.

Simply put, it is the difference between being conscious or unconscious.

"Here endeth the lesson"

Letter from Ho Hum to the Imbeciles, verse 999.

Aaaahhh the village blacksmith........we have 4 in a 15 mile radius !

Now converted into offices and housing.

It's all arc welding now !

Any one else sense that this photo was probably taken just prior to sitting down to enjoy Blondie's splendid meal? The thought of cracking open an ninth bottle prior to the starter is really just not cricket.

Happy to see the champagne ice bucket has finally been assembled, sans

the Canadian flag.

The rest of the photo appears a bit gauzy, no doubt occasioned by the

eight depleted bottles which appear to have been consumed in one sitting.

Your selections, however, are without peer.

Have been remiss on commenting on the wedding pics. Absolutely beautiful

photos of the bride and her equally ravenous attendant. Will send them

along to Modern Bride for their next issue.

Still waiting for news of the crew complement on the crossing which you

had promised to ferret out. Only 15 more days till we take Barcelona by storm.

Hum still continues to pist to you all despite having the worst "Man Cold" in recorded history !

Blondie's sympathy capacity drained by the third hour !

Now all the comfort that Hum can muster for himself are "Hot Toddies"

- 1tsp of honey

- measure of whisky

- two cloves

- half a cinnamon stick

- top up with just-off-the-boil water.

TIP

If you are out of honey, cloves and a cinnamon stick and you can't be bothered to boil the kettle the simply swig from the bottle (thus saving a glass too).

REMEMBER

If you are drinking from the bottle as prescribed then do remember, the neck of the bottle could be imbued with germs.

So never share the bottle with others in case they catch "Man Cold".

The female cold is much less debilitating and ladies should still be able to perform all their duties fully.

Maybe this is why you only got three hours of sympathy. Consider yourself lucky, chum
