Reserving Privee

I have pre-reserved Privee for my upcoming cruise but when I booked, it didn't give me the option to advise the number of guests. Do I do that when I am on board? It will be the first night of the cruise, so we won't be able to give much notice to the maitre'd.

Should I email Oceania as well? If so, which email should I use?

I wonder if you are using a TA if they can put a note in your file ?

Maybe speak to the Concierge as soon as you board

Now that the food for Privée is served from either Polo or Tuscana, there really isn't a lot of advanced preparation needed. Each of your guests will be given a menu from each restaurant, and they order as and how they please.

When you board the ship, there will be a card in your Stateroom with a telephone number for the Restaurant Captain who will be in charge of Privée on that evening.

Give him a call with a guest list and a starting time, and you're basically "set" unless you want to pre-purchase wine, for which the chief wine steward will happily come to your cabin with the Master List, otherwise the liquor is ala carte

In most cases, they recommend that your guests assemble in a central location (either your cabin or one of the lounges) and the Restaurant Captain will come down to escort you up at the appointed hour.

It's not a long walk to Privée, but it can seem convoluted if the Specialties are crowded.

Except for the number of place settings, the room is what the room is. The chairs are too large and heavy to remove from the room, so if your party is less than ten people, the best that they can do is to move the chairs away from the table to line the perimeter walls.

Make sure they know how many and the names of the guest. They will send each person(Cabin) an invitation to the dinner. We had a pre-dinner cocktail party in the suite.

The person came to the cabin and took us to Privee. It was a nice touch and dinner was a

special night. Enjoy, nice way to start a cruise.

I would definitely contact Oceania special services prior to boarding letting them know your guests names, cabin numbers and the time of the dinner so there will be an invitation for your guests when they enter their cabin upon boarding..

Thanks to all for the comments. Very helpful. I am looking forward to my first Oceania cruise and Privee should be a great way to start . I am travelling with 4 others and our Privee night will be celebrating a birthday for one of the group. I will let the Concierge/Restaurant Manager know when I get on board that we have a birthday "girl" and they might be able to do something in relation to that?

Let them know about the birthday before you leave that way you'll be sure to have a cake. But once on the ship check again to make sure they have the cake ready.

Yet, we would not order a similar one again.

In a restaurant dinner party atmosphere, such as this, most guests are disappointed not to have a choice of dessert.

The "Special" cakes are banquet sized, and with a max of ten people at your dinner, the leftover situation can make some people uncomfortable. There are those who cannot bear the thought of wasting food.

Smaller cakes which simply "mark the occasion" are also available. That would be our suggestion.

Had an enormous cake for my husbands birthday which we we had our butler share with the rest of his staff. There were many thanks and comments from

the dinning room waiters the next morning. No waste there.....

They will definitely bring a cake to your dinner in Privee. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary last year and booked the room and invited our friends who were travelling with us. At the end of the meal they brought in a cake and a number of waiters from the restaurants came in as they lit the candles. It will be an experience you will not forget. You will have your own private waiters.

We didn't book until we got on the ship and they still sent invites to our friends. They just needed the names and cabin numbers.

Yes as others have said, the price is USD250 for the room. Money well spent I am thinking, for a special occasion, with wonderful friends. We are all looking forward to it very much.

We booked Privée for Thanksgiving in November 2014 while on a TA. As expected, the service was incredible and everyone went out of their way to make the evening special. This included providing a special Thanksgiving turkey dinner with all the trimmings for those who were so inclined.

It was not necessary for us to contact anyone regarding the guest list and invitations as our butler mentioned it to us on our first day. Subsequently, we also received a call from the lobby concierge, requesting that we provide him with the names when we had compiled our guest list. There was no pressure and a few days before the dinner we were able to provided the names - including some without a stateroom number. The invitations were delivered the same day.

If I were you, I wouldn't worry about contacting anyone prior to embarkation unless you have some sort of extraordinary request.

Since it is the first night of the cruise..I personally would notify the ship before boarding if you want invitations sent....

We love tables for two in the specialties and MDR as well as at the table in our suite.

We haven't, but people reserve it for two all the time.

That was even the case in the old days when the dinner was more extravagant and the fee's were much steeper.

If I am looking to book a specific evening in Privee for just 2 people, does Oceania continue to take bookings for that date and time until the table is full?

No - the entire room and the whole table is yours for $250 (unless you wish to share it with others) - enjoy!

I would book early. On our last two cruises, Privee sold out very early, as in about 10 months to a year before sailing. Have had wonderful experiences there, always with groups, and it is well worth the small expense.

I booked on Monday. We sail this December. The plan is for an intimate dinner with my wife to celebrate our anniversary.
