Pullmantur 'Monarch' eastbound transatlantic May 2017 - Costa Rica - Lisbon

Received notice from Travel agent that the ship will leave Limon an hour earlier than originally planned. Everyone check your arrival plans. I believe we have to be aboard by 1 pm.

I notice the ship is not yet listed under reviews on this site with this cruise line which while owned by Royal Carib. gets quite poor reviews on its other 2 ships listed in the reviews section. Anyone have any info on the ship? Its name before? Reviews?

We have travelled on Pullmantur on 2 occasions and both experiences have been really great.

The important aspect to always consider is it is a Spanish Cruise Line and adopts a much more laid back life style, no rushing around, leisurely meals, all meals are continental style with continental ingredients, so no large american steaks etc.

An experience we would recommend to anyone.

Sadly it does not always get great reviews because it is different, which is a great pity.

Just returned from s cruise on monarch had a good time shows were great but same menu in dining room was a surprise being charged twice didn't help I'm booked on this cruise

We are booked on this cruise from Colon to Lisbon.

This will be our 3rd Cruise with this Company.

Last two have been great and hoping for same again.

Booked a Grand Suite and company rang us 2 weeks later giving us a free upgrade to a de-luxe suite which is only one down from the top of the range Royal Suite.

So we are really happy bunnies.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on board.

My partner and I are planning on flying from California to San Jose via Houston on Sunday May 7 to arrive in San Jose 7:40 PM. Overnight in San Jose then get to Puerto Limon on Monday the 8th for an overnight so that we are there for the departure on the 9th. Not quite sure of any details yet except the airline is booked. Any ideas?

My partner and I are planning on flying from California to San Jose via Houston on Sunday May 7 to arrive in San Jose 7:40 PM. Hi, on Aug 25, post #26, http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2358869&page=2 we responded to dejanewkath on this topic......there has been no subsequent communication, so we don't know if she/they are still planning to join this cruise......therefore, if you are interested in sharing transportation we are available.

Currently we are in Spain, and will be boarding Rhapsody Of The Seas, Malaga - Miami, on November 19, and will be incommunicado from that date until we arrive back in Canada late Dec 02.

Hello my wife and I are also considering a transatlantic, but we have a few questions.

1.Each cruise line, has an agenda, that they publish and leave in your cabin each night for the next day. What does pullmantur call their paper?

2.Cruise lines charge gratitutes daily. Does pullmantur do so?

In answer to your questions Yes and Yes. Can't remember the name of the daily's but your room steward leaves them in your cabin also they do charge a daily gratuity.

I was on the transatlantic to Colon loved it. The lunches are amazing while the dinners are the same choices but all in all the food preparation was excellent.

I am hoping to do this cruise also if I can get the return flights straightened out.

Where is anyone staying in Limon the night before? Looking at schedules for Colon and Limon it might be better to fly into Costa Rica than Panama. That would require a shuttle to Limon and an overnight stay near the port before the cruise.

What are anyone's plans who are flying into San Jose on to Limon to get the ship?

Was just in Costa Rica on the Norwegian Pearl and the road from the port to the rainforest was a good road so I would assume getting between the airport and the port would be good.

Any suggestions on transfers and hotel the night before would be appreciated.

Hi Pat,

We are doing the 10 May ex Colon and the 25 May ex Lisbon. We have decided to fly into Panama on Spirit Airlines (FLL) then stay a couple of days in Panama City before taking a transfer to Colon on 10 May. We decided on the Veneto Hotel and Casino who are doing the airport/hotel and hotel/port transfers. They were very helpful.

Like Steve we are staying in Panama for a few days before the cruise, flying direct from Madrid on Iberia.

We are staying in the Grace Hotel which has been highly recommended and they are providing a Car to collect us at the Airport and to take us to the cruise port.

Looking forward to the Cruise, it will be our 3rd on this Cruise Line.

Hola/Hi fellow cruisecritics. I'm traveling solo on this cruise as my spouse is unable to make it. If anyone has suggestions on transportation from San Jose to Limon on Monday, 08May, please let me know. I'm thinking of taking the long-distance bus service but if there's a shared-van opportunity, do let me know. I'm bilingual English/Spanish so its easy for me to get around. I'm booked at a hotel in San Jose and Limon for 1 night each. Also, if you have any private tours set up in Panama, Cartagena or Antigua, do let me know.

Si alguien tiene planes de tours privados, por favor dejenme saber. Yo estare en San Jose una sola noche, con partida hacia Limon el siguiente dia lunes 08mayo. Me urge saber si hay disponibilidad en transporte en van privado a Limon. De lo contrario tomare in autobus.

Hi Pat,

I'm stating at the Park hotel in Limon the night before the cruise departs. My plan is to take a bus from San Jose to Limon. Do you have other arrangements such as a van? I'm looking for options other than the bus to Limon.

This is our first cruise with Pullmantur, Bettye and I board in Cartagena. I understand that if there is a roll call the ship gives the group a welcome cocktail party. Can any of you regular cruisers confirm this?
