LindaKE Posted June 16, 2017 #27 Share Posted June 16, 2017 if you want little or no traffic,if the ship docks on time, come after one p.m. But what about parking? We don't want to park in the overflow lot.
Thorncroft Posted June 16, 2017 #28 Share Posted June 16, 2017 What time did you get to the terminal? I notice you were parked in the overflow lot. We hope to avoid that and park in the garage. The overflow lot is at the Civic Center a couple blocks away. They do have a shuttle running on ship days. There were quite a few vehicles in there today. I don't know at what point the parking deck fills up and vehicles get diverted. If it's not raining, it shouldn't be too bad if you would end up there. It's really easier to make a jail break from there than at the terminal parking deck.
MSCruiserHCT Posted June 16, 2017 #29 Share Posted June 16, 2017 Our check in time was from 130-2, so we got there at about 1245 and even then the line was ridiculous, but once we finally got to the terminal and got our luggage to the porter, it started moving very fast. Now, getting off the ship, be prepared to wait a while. When we got back to Mobile on June 3, it was pouring. That made things worse with the heat and humidity. But, getting on wasn't so bad at all. The overflow lot we parked in was in a gated area they directed us to just right there under the interstate bridge by the train tracks across from the terminal. I guess we got lucky and didn't have to park all the way at the Civic Center Lot.
elainmir Posted June 16, 2017 #30 Share Posted June 16, 2017 We were FTTF last time and getting into the parking deck wasn't the issue...they held us up there for a few minutes but the luggage porters were slow ( we were on the 3rd sailing out of Mobile) and workers seemed confused both outside and inside the terminal. We have FTTF with 11 check in but plan to arrive in Mobile at 10:30. We will see how this trip goes.

Porters were very confused as to what to do with our bags when we tried handing them off. Our hotel shuttle driver made him take them and put them on the cart
PatyCake Posted June 18, 2017 #32 Share Posted June 18, 2017 Confused here, if you had a shuttle driver, why would you go into parking garage? I would think being dropped off should be much easier and faster?

I would think being dropped off should be much easier and faster? The terminal and parking garage are attached so even with a shuttle you have to go into the parking structure. It was quicker to shuttle but porters weren't very efficient. We heard from many people parking at the port took a while
Alabaster Cruiser Posted July 11, 2017 #34 Share Posted July 11, 2017 How much was the internet on board? Is it cheaper to prepay or wait and get and on board discount?
alabamaprincess Posted September 17, 2017 #35 Share Posted September 17, 2017 Thank you for the information about Mobile and the Fantasy. I will be cruising out of Mobile in May 2018 for the first time since they put a ship back into the port. Looking forward to being on the Fantasy again. I was on her the last time she was in Mobile.
