Platinum Boarding Issue On Carnival

Going on a cruise with my son. I am Platinum, he is Gold. We are in the same room, I know that I normally go to the lounge and allowed to board early. How does this work when the other occupant is Gold...do they say : You have to wait in the lobby because you are GOLD, but can go ahead and head to the VIP lounge for platinum? We have the same boarding pass, etc. How do they handle this?

Yes, they will board with you.

We have cruised with family members who were on a different booking number, but were let on with us in the VIP area since we are Platinum. We were very surprised with this, but very happy.

On another occasion, it didn't happen that way. So guess it depends on the dock employee you encounter.

So far the poll seems to be going in the "no Problem" direction...Sure hope that's right. Would be pretty bad to be broken up. Yes, we are on the same booking number, same room. Anybody else want to chime in on experiences with this type of thingy.

Thirty-three cruises on Carnival and out daughter boarded with us prior to her reaching platinum. Now she is and takes a guest in a separate cabin, and they board together.

If you are under the same booking (which you seem to be), then he will board with you. :)

Enjoy your cruise.

So my DW and I are platinum and traveling with our 2 adult boys that are not platinum and in a different room.

Will they be able to board with us?

No. Only the occupants in the same stateroom board with platinum as long as one is platinum. If you want to mess around and put one platinum in each stateroom then yes, you will all board together.

Ok thanks but I have one more twist. My 2 boys are staying in same room as 2 adult boys from another family and one of their boys is Platinum.

So if they're all in the same room, will they be able to have priority check in that way?

Pretty sure it's same booking but could be wrong.

Edit: Sorry I just realized that you seem pretty sure and I'm not sure at all. Soo I'm guessing you're right

Only in the same cabin boards with highest status. There used to be several loopholes but there seem to have all been closed due to widespread abuse.

Chiming in.

I've sailed with my mom three times so far. I was Platinum for the last two cruises but she was not. Since Mom was my roommate, she came into the VIP waiting area with me. Our S&S cards were printed while we checked in. (She received Red cards.) Mom boarded with me.

On two other cruises, we booked our cabins so my husband and I were each in a different cabin and had roommates who were not. Same scenarios-they came into the VIP waiting areas with us and all of our cards were printed right there. They also boarded with us. (Upon embarkation, we all met at Guest Services where we had our S&S cards reprogrammed so the right couples shared cabins. But that's another CC question.)

Four different times, non- Platinum roomies received their non-Platinum S&S cards in the VIP waiting room and boarded with us Platinum cruisers.

Hope that helps.

Since one of the "boys" (I have two "boys" also, 27 and 25. :D) in the cabin is Platinum, all of his roommates will be able to board when Platinum and Diamond passengers are called.

That is awesome! Your party saved $60 on FTTF!

  • 5 weeks later...

I am happy to say that we are now checked in and all of our family will board with Priority boarding.

My DW and I are turning platinum during the cruise so priority boarding is a given.

Our 2 sons are not platinum but are rooming with a boy from another family that is platinum and hence, they qualified for priority boarding

Yes. Since at least one person in the room is Platinum, they all get priority boarding. Nothing to do with age in this case :)

Surfjock27 is correct. I boarded with my platinum parents on our last cruise. I am not platinum, but we were in the same cabin.

This is all correct. A couple of things:

1. As you enter the lounge, tell your son that this is what it is like to have proper status. Have him survey the sea of humanity in the general boarding area and strongly suggest he work hard to reach the Platinum level.

2. Before you even get to the cruise port, teach him the proper Royalty Wave (hand slightly curved, thumb tuck in towards your palm and the back of the hand facing the public). As you leave the lounge, do the Platinum Royalty Wave as you are escorted past the crowds to your awaiting cruise ship!
