I notice there are a couple of Singapore residents here.

The week-end cruise here in Singapore is so cheap. Inside S$561, Window $659 and Balcony $771. Cheaper then SS Gemini.

I am a regular on the Gemini and have been given 3 free nights on the Genting Dream. Working to get up for the 7 night cruise from HK next year.

Are you talking about the 3 free nights as the inaugural cruise sailing on 4th November?

What I want to know is, Are you a regular on the Gemini here in SG like me. I have earn enough points in the casino on the Gemini to get a free 7N cruise HK to HK on Genting Dream.

No 3 free nights cannot be used for the SG sailing.

You are right.

It depends whether you are heavy on ship board expanses or the casino. If heavy on the casino then change to HKD. If no casino then change to RMB. If light on ship board expanses the just pay in HKD or USD or SGD at the reception. They will convert it to RMB without you handling any change.

  • 2 weeks later...

Have you seen anything like this. 2 weeks before the start of their cruising life and they have invalidated/cancelled all their booked cruises.

I book directly with them and did not receive an email notification and only found out about this by accident while surfing the internet.

I don't know what they are doing now... This is just another one of their screw ups i guess. I really want to write a review for this ship but the line or ship hasn't even been added yet...

I'll just give a mini-review here then.

Pro's:

- Balcony and Suite cabins have a larger bathroom then most cruise lines. (double the size of a normal bathroom)

- Quite a lot of facilities for children and teenagers eg. Waterslides, arcade, Zouk club, Ropes Course etc.

- Very beautiful interior and exterior

- The shows is 9/10. Really cannot believe their shows were that good. Both entertaining and comedic.

- 3 and a half decks of casinos.

- VIP lounge offers a complimentary restaurant for Suite guests. It's called Dream Palace on the 16,17 and 18th deck at the FWD of the ship. They also have a private Gym and Swimming pool deck area for Suite guests.

- Very polite crew and very good service by all. (It's just that it was badly managed)

Con's:

- No room service at all.

- Every food place except The Lido and the World Grill (basically the same place) is free. If you just want a snack, everything is chargeable.

- Bowling alley in ZOUK is chargeable

- Very disorganized. Not acceptable by the standards of almost everyone on board even though it was still an inaugural cruise. This ship had one of the most inefficient muster drills and no one was enforcing us to take part in it. People could just wander back to the cabins and no one would stop them.

- Waited for half an hour for a table at Food Federation (chargeable) and 40 minutes for my food to come at 12am. Everyone around me was complaining because the waitress didn't know which table was which and sent food to the wrong tables.

- The bakery near the guest services ran out of bread because there was not enough food on the ship. We asked them whether they had anymore and they said that they had sold out.

- Queue for the Dream Dining room was about 1-1 and a half hours on both nights. (MAKE SURE YOU REGISTER EARLY FIRST)

- There is smoking on the ship, as this is the Chinese culture when gambling. Mainly the Casino decks would be filled with a cigar smell.

-Also because we were the second sailing, the crew was understaffed as more would join the rest in Hong Kong and Nansha. This resulted in long waiting times and caused most of the mess everywhere.
