Day in Maui

We arrive at 8 am and tender in Maui. Leave at 6 pm. We would like to rent a car. What are some reasonable things to see and do with the time we have in Maui considering the times needed to tender off and on cruise ship (RCCL Explorer of the Seas), pick up rental and then do some touring. There are so many places to see and things to do. We are a group of 9 "older" adults in mid 50's to early 70's in generally good health. We aren't interested in a lot of hiking though. Just sight seeing, cocktails and good food. We don't really "need" beach time since this ship is going on to Fiji after Hawaii. Suggestions?

Oct 2017.

Whales don't arrive until Dec 1, or thereabouts.

I would give some thought to simply walking around Lahaina. Some history in the town, and sites to see without driving.

Or, you could drive down to Wailea and back. Good places to eat in Wailea as well.
