This was our 1st Celebrity cruise but have been on a variety of other lines 25 times. We mostly chose this cruise due to the proximity to our home and the port of Bermuda for our 5th time and one of our favorites. Let's get to it;

Embarkation- We parked in the garage for $140, pretty easy and from the time I parked at 11:15 we were on the ship by 12:15. We ate lunch we was pretty tough to navigate as it was crowded and seats were at a minimum. Our luggage came around 4pm.

Room-We stayed in 2127 which was an Oceanview and for 4 people it was very tight, we tried to be in the room in shifts when getting ready for dinner. We saw the room steward twice but he did a fine job.

Food- This is different for everyone so will just give our point a view. Breakfast was similar and the same as all other cruise lines other than the poached egg station. The lunch buffet had a variety but it is spread out and seats can be tough but food was fine. Dinner was very good to outstanding, we enjoyed just about every night. We had the early seating and while our waiters tried it took 1:30 to over 2 hours. Just too long for our families. We told the Maitre D' and he tried but being on the the floor and food having to come up from 3rd.

Entertainment-Overall it was fine, one show was awful "Sirens" the other by the cast were pretty good with the female singers blowing away the males. They also brought in 'Divas 3" and they were excellent and a huge step up. The cruise director Chris and his staff worked hard and tried their best, most of their activities were worth watching. The 2 cover bands played by the pool and were good but by end of the week got a bit repetitive. The DJ was bland. More than 50% of the music was geared toward 55 and over, which made it tough for the younger crowd. Piano player was good but stuck in cafe, I tried to listen from martini bar but they had weird techno music blasting.

Kids Camp- My son was 13 and participated a bunch and had a decent time, the room is very small and they combine 12-14 and 15-17 quite a bit so that makes it for some awkwardness. They do what they can but this is not a **** geared toward teens.

Service- I had the drink package, mostly sat in the upper deck since its impossible to get a chair near the pool, I rarely saw a waiter so mostly walked to the bar. Drink were solid and bartenders helpful most of the time.

Pool Area- It was very warm and the 2 small outdoor pools were as tight as any cruise I have been on, the adult pool is deep so makes it tough for people to not stay on sides. I got out by 9:30 and sat on upper deck every day, the seats downstairs I heard got filled by 7:30

Bermuda-We went to Horseshoe the 1st and 3rd day and Tobacco Bay the 2nd. We used the shuttle for Horseshoe and ferry and shuttle for Tobacco Bay

Casino- I am a poker player and there were only 2 nights where there was any games and it was small and short lived.

Debarkation-We had self assist, left our room at 7:45 and it took about an hour to get to our car on site.

Dress Code- The 1st night I wore the shorts I wore on the ship and all other nights jeans and a collared shirt. I did not see any shorts and 'Chic" nights had a variety of dressing.

All in all a good cruise, we may do again without the kids

We are on the Summit next Sunday and have early dining. It says early dining is at 6 for us, but I noticed on here that some have mentioned 5:30. What time did your early dining start? Thanks in advance!

We had the late dining, took 2 hours at least, was told the ship was 400 passengers overbooked. And that was the reason,

Food was not as good as 5 years ago, when I took the same cruise.

Also noticed at buffet they tended to close stations a bit earlier than stated time.

They closed breakfast at 10 one day and my son was upset, there were just a few things here and there but yes the time it took dinner was way too long especially with children who want to do night time activities

I am just off the same cruise. On Friday night upstairs in the MDR, this one passenger was fuming. Was really angry at a waitress or sommelier. Said she called him a "stupid American" and he accused her of saying that the USA blew up its own planes on 9/11 and then he told one of the people in charge if they don't take care of the issue, he would.

Anyone else see this? What started the issue? I had seen the guy around the ship and he had seemed disgruntled at other points during the trip. Other diners were saying this waitress/sommelier was very good, so not sure what the true story is.

Nope my sommelier was awesome, refilled my wine or others drinks if they went to to 1/4th left

I may be wrong, but a cruise ship can not "overbook". It would be against the International Maritime Laws to have more people on board then there is life boat space available. Thank the Titanic for that.

It is possible that there were a lot of people doing what you did. You had 2 adults and 2 children in bunks. The Bermuda cruises are full of children in the summer while school is out. So maybe the ship was at or close to full capacity which is different than counting 2 people per cabin.

I think 3 glorious days in Bermuda on all their wonderful beaches far outweigh concerns about 2 days at sea with tight pool space. But then again that's just me. Give me a mudslide and a place to lay out and I am fine.

Im usually close to the same and just pop in and out of pool but 3/4 sea days its was over 100 so made it tough to lay out all the time

We too just came off this cruise and are happy to say of the 3 times in the last 5 yrs on the Summit, this was our best time on the ship!

Yes, the chair hogs were out in force, which is always upsetting. I really do wish the powers that be could put their expensively paid heads together and come up with some type of solution to this problem! But hey, you cant let that ruin your time. It did allow us to find some wonderful hidden places on deck 11 to relax in and out of the sun, so that's what we did.

I will say we did have an "incident" over chairs with a rude, vulgar person who found it okay to move the things off my chair when I ran down to my suite to assist my disabled son up to join me on the chairs me, my sister, mother and husband had been sitting in for at least an hour.

At one time or another we left the chairs for various reasons, i.e. go in the pool, mom ran down to get advils in her cabin, husband went to check out the buffet, you know, you are allowed to leave for a bit. My sister stayed the whole time and when I went to get my son to help him up to deck 11, the one and only time she actually was by herself for a few minutes, while she had her head turned sunbathing, someone decided they wanted two of our chairs. They picked the things off my chair and moved them to an empty one a few seats away. Now mind you, it was still on the early side and there were 2 chairs to be had in various places, but no, they wanted mine and my husbands chairs! When my sister explained that the chairs were in use and told them the reason I had left for a few moments this person told her she couldn't save our chairs.

Save our chairs? No one was saving chairs, we had been using them!

I don't know about others, but if I was told that yes, someone is sitting here, they just left for a minute to get their disabled son who is blind in one eye and has some mobility issues, me? I'd say, so sorry, and go look for 2 other chairs, but not this guy!

It escalated to the point of my sister and then I having to talk to security and then finally, I believe when my sister had to explain to the wife (she said to my sister "how do we know he's disabled? yes lady, I make that up so I could score chairs on cruise ships) she was told to just take a look at the black and blues he had on his legs because he sometimes falls from his disability. They finally relented and gave us back our chairs. But not before we were told to leave them alone or else, he gave us our last warning??!! After my sister being called a most vulgar word that starts with the letter after B! Real class and a true gentleman. You must make your wife proud everyday!

But to get back to the good stuff.....we found the service to be impeccable, the crew as friendly and accommodating as ever.

As this was our 3rd time on the Summit, we only did a couple of shows (we've seen them) but did enjoy the martini bar, the casino, and the huge balcony of our penthouse.

Luminae was wonderful! Every meal better then the next. They did everything to please your palate and the service was top notch! They were very nice about mixing and matching things from the MDR menu and their own.

The sailing to and from Bermuda was the smoothest we ever encountered and at times it didn't even feel like we were on a ship. I did miss the rocking to sleep just a little.

Weather was fantastic the entire 7 days were filled with sunshine, although a bit hotter then I like, but 2 days on Horseshoe Bay made it bearable.

We met very nice people along the way and made some great new memories.

Shout out to ChucktownSteve! It was a pleasure meeting you and your Virginia and we enjoyed your visit to see our suite! Hope the rest of your cruise was wonderful!

From Capt Alex to Maya, the suite concierge, to our terrific waitstaff, and especially our butler, Judas, thank you for making this a really beautiful family vacation! Hope to do it again soon!

We too are just off the cruise to Bermuda. It was a great cruise with great staff (except our bulter...saw him the first day, but never after that).

You are correct, the shows were good except the magician (not really all magic, but a lot of technology).I agree, Sirens was awful, seemed to be a repeat of 2 years ago (our 5 cruise in the same suite within 6 years).

Luminae was special as was our waiter Jose. The staff was very accommodating in Luminae. There was always something on the menu that caught our fancy, so we ordered off the "kids menu". They offered fillet mignon which was so big that it couldn't have been a "kids" portion. And of course the onion soup, shrimp cocktail and baked potato came from the MDR. Unfortunately we wanted to go there for breakfast on disembarkation morning, but the self assist passengers were very nasty and rude and refused to move so we could get there. We went to Michaels and Maya and the continental breakfast was good enough.

I think I would have a problem if someone other than the pool butler touched my chair. Sorry about the disabled son, but nobody should touch anybodies stuff (see my post from the cruise about stupid people at the pool). Just a little comment...don't expect to come down to get a chair at 11:00 and expect to get 2 chairs together in a prime location. That's just stupid. It reminds me of when a person goes to a first run movie on opening weekend 2 minutes before the movie starts and expects to get 2 seats in the middle together. If you know the comedian Bill Engvil "there's your sign".

All in all a great cruise.

Just curious as to who your butler was?

I really just had interaction with my own, Judas, who was wonderful, and another named Chip, who actually was suppose to be our butler but was requested by the people in the other penthouse (they had sailed 3weeks prior in my suite and wanted the entire staff that took care of them on that cruise.)

Chip was always around with a smile and any help he could offer.

There was one gentleman who I often saw and assumed was a butler. Barely ever smiled, said hello, and just looked unhappy and I remember thinking I was glad he wasn't assigned to us!

Good morning Debbie,

Thankx for the shout out and especially being so gracious to share your sailaway with us! I find it so unbelievable how anyone can treat you and your family that way. Y'all are so gentile and friendly! Fortunately I stayed away from the pool so we were not subjected to that. :D

I found a lot of rude people on this cruise...more so than any other cruise I've been on. Maybe because it was so crowded. You know like the experiments where they put too many rats in a cage? :p Or probably due to the short duration of 7 days.

Of course there were a lot of nice friendly ones as well. So that made up for the "rude northerners" ;) Overall we had a very good cruise.

I was told the ship is considered full (100% occupancy) when there are two people for every cabin. Then when you add a third or fourth that increases occupancy to more than considered full. But yes they must have a lifeboat seat for all souls on board.

One of the crew told me these last two sailings were the most booked of the entire Bermuda season.

PS we had a stowaway who's been on the ship the last four months. The bar staff named her Pina Colada. She stayed mostly on our balcony.

Here she was relaxing with my DW on the next chair prior to sailaway.

Debarkation-We had self assist, left our room at 7:45 and it took about an hour to get to our car on site.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. It's always good to get different perspective.

I have to ask why did it take so long for you to get to your car? We have sailed out of Cape Liberty 15 times and since they have built the new garage we are usually off the ship, through customs and in our car in around 25 minutes and we don't do self assist so we have to find our luggage in the terminal. We usually get off the ship between 8 am - 8:10 am.

Cruiserstimesthree you were in the cabin next to us. I was in 1141. This was our second time on Summit, same cabin. Two summers ago we sailed the same itinerary and had an AMAZING time. Food and service were excellent. All I can say is things have really changed and not for the better. The quality of food and service have really gone down. We both work in the hospitality industry for over 30 years so we know a lot about the subject. Food in the buffet was mostly good although there seem to be less choices. Blu was OK, our second night all 4 of us ordered the lamb and it was so tough none of us could eat it. Some food choices were ok others not so much. I ordered the Angus ravioli and it was awful. That night my hubby and dad had the lobster and said it was delicious and perfectly cooked. I can't remember what my mom ordered but she loved it. The following day we opted for buffet and had a delicious leg of lamb...go figure! Saturday evening we at at Tuscan Grill and food was tasty. It was comped because of some issues that we had throughout the cruise but in my opinion not worth the extra $45 per person or more if you order the "special" dishes. The calamari fritti was good, papardelle with short rib was fantastic, the rib eye with gorgon zola was fine. Desserts were good, although I asked for the strawberries with zabaglione without the sponge cake and was told no. It was 4 huge pieces of sponge cake with pieces of strawberries and cream. The limoncello cheesecake was very good. My dad and husband enjoyed the donuts.

Service in the buffet was mostly slow and non existent the first couple of days. After voicing our opinions and listening to other people complain we noticed that all the senior staff were now assisting. Service was much better the last two days for sure. Our room attendant was very sweet and very good at his job.

We loved Cafe el bacio and went there every day after dinner. Natalia was such a sweet and funny girl, we loved her. The wine bar on the 5th floor has changed also, they removed all the wine dispensing machines that were on the walls.

I always enjoy the solarium pool and the massage therapy shower heads in the four corners but they removed them....grrrrrr!!! Why??? We very much enjoyed the Persian Gardens every day.

My hubby was very upset that he could not longer smoke on the aft bar on deck 10.

The new lounge on deck 12 is very nice. We enjoyed the nighttime movies up there. There is no longer any daily entertainment on the aft bar and I'm guessing it's because of the movie going on upstairs. Our last cruise there was a fantastic Spanish guitarist there every afternoon.

Overall we had a nice time but if Celebrity wants to maintain its customer base, a more discerning clientele that expects great food and service they need to do something to change things back to the way they were before! After speaking with several staff on board I realized that this was not the doing of the crew, it's all coming from corporate. Hey Celebrity bigwigs at the corporate offices, you need to look at what's going on onboard your ships and make some changes. If not you are going to loose many loyal celebrity guests.

Wonderful review, Debbie. Thanks so much.

Chuck, we met Pina Colada on the July 31 cruise. What cabin is this? We were in AQ, 9043(hump slant) and inquired about foot stools but was told "only on the newer ships". It looks like you are AFT.

I think his name was Nalish...or something like that. The same apple, and pear were left in my room for the entire cruise. One day he brought an orange...I ate it but never saw another orange in the tray. You would think that if I ate a specific fruit it would be replaced with the same fruit....but noooooo. Ice was a commodity, I ended up going to the buffet to get ice on some days.

As there were three in the suite, I asked for additional towels.....but noooooo. We were allotted three in the morning and three at night.

Except for him...it still was a great cruise

The line to leave the ship was long and a tad disorganized, then another long line at customs, a line up the elevator at the garage and ended up around an hour, yes this was our longest at Bayonne as well

Wow those lines must have been long. We have only encountered long lines in Customs once because they decided since it was a Sunday they were only going to have 3 customs agents working. Our last cruise in May I counted 7 working.

Glad you had a good cruise.
