The place emptied out quickly and I took out my study material.

There was a grumpy old man next to us watching the game and he kept yelling at everyone who got in front of the TV. I think his team lost, since he eventually left cursing, LoL. Good thing I don’t bother with sports ;)

I stayed there studying and mom went downstairs to get us some burgers. It was not until later that I found out that I could have ordered the burgers from our server there. The burgers were great and they hit the spot!

I pretty much studied the entire cruise, mom did some walking around the ship. We had some movement, but not as radical as the one on the way to Bimini. Later on in the night a group of friends sat near us and they were completely trashed. To the point that they nearly tripped on everything each time they got up to get more drinks. They were celebrating the 21st birthday of one in the group. It was a lot of fun watching them, they were surely having a great time together. The staff was also very accommodating and they were encouraging the fun and whatnot. Later on they even got a cake for him, which went in its entirety in his face, the other guys were liking it off his face. Quite funny, I don’t think he was gay either, they were just completely inebriated!

At some point we crossed another cruise, but the pictures came out horrible. It was impossible to get a good shot with all the movement going on.

And then we started approaching port Everglades.

Here is the last pictures that I have, I actually ran out of battery. I went through the entire charge of both batteries.

Since it was a near to full sailing, disembarking took a little longer than expected. Nothing horrible, but I wish that we would have headed down earlier. Of course, being as stubborn as I am, I told my mom we were fine and to wait a little longer. By the time we got to the casino, the line already wrapped around the entire casino. The good thing is that we found seats while we waited for the line to move. I would dare to say about 40 minutes?

Conclusion and Final Thoughts

There is no point in doing my usual point scoring system for this cruise, can it even be called a cruise? But all things considered, this was one amazing day!

Starting with the ship itself, I can say that I was pleasantly surprised. The ship is very compact, and you can walk it in its entirety in about 30 minutes or less. There are no pools, or jacuzzis, and very little to do. But the main purpose of this ship is to transport you quickly to paradise and that it does in splendor. The ship is immaculate, and you can see the crew constantly working to keep it that way.

They offer a few dining options, including a full service restaurant, a buffet and bar food. The food is reasonably priced, and the very least we had tasted great! Service on the ship is excellent, and the crew is serving contracts just like they do with the larger cruise lines. For those who want to rest on board, they can rent a cabin for the day for a reasonable price. The addition of a cruise director is a also a great asset for the company. He did a good job at keeping lots of people entertained in the main outside deck while the ship was sailing.

Were this company really shines is in the Resort itself! Bimini is now one of the two Bahamian islands that I would love to repeat, the second being Castaway Key. Bimini Resorts World is a true paradise, I absolutely loved how everything is spread out and you can feel like you’re on your own piece of paradise. As I have already stated the key in making the most out of your stay is to rent a golf cart. Nothing compares with the ability to move at your own pace between the resort and the local town.

The local town doesn’t really offer that much, I guess it is just like any other Caribbean town. There is obvious poverty and I for one, noticed people eyeing some of my possessions. While I do admit that I saw lots of police patrolling the main gathering areas, it is still a little concerning to have to worry about it. The main reason to head into town is to have those amazing local conch fritters and conch salad. That alone merits the visit!

The resort has two pools, one beach, a large casino and a marina with a mini mall. There are also plenty of restaurants throughout the property, at least 5 that I can think of. The pools rival those from very expensive resorts here in my home town. Actually to me they looked much better than the W hotel, or the Ritz. The beach was very rough on our visit there, I hope this was just an isolated occasion, because the beach itself had all animates that you need. Did I mention that the water toys are included?

Here is where the real question lies, what is Resorts World Bimini SuperFast trying to accomplish. We now know that they have pulled out of port Everglades and they won’t sail the single day sailings any more. It is clear that they seem to be struggling to establish a market, and more importantly, how to use to ship to do so. From what I know, their next move will be to try 2 and 3 day sailings, with the option to sleep on the ship or at the resort. The main problem that I see with this is that one of the sailing that I saw was Saturday, arriving at 5pm and leaving Sunday at 11am, how is that convenient to anyone?

I really hope that they reconsider the day cruises, I for one would not mind paying $100 for a day cruise like the one we did last week. One thing is very clear, judging by the amount of construction going on in the island, it is clear that they have very high expectations for this resort. I would love to see this island develop into a major resort so that it can be more easily accessible for us to go more often.

To sum it up, if you ask me whether your family should visit Bimini? I will answer probably answer as such. Bimini is one of my favorite islands, and I can’t wait until the next time that I can make it there. However, I have no interest in flying there. Part of the thrill and fun, is arriving to the island aboard Bimini SuperFast!

Thanks for the review! I have seen the ad's and thought the boat/ferry was an old 50's clunker or something. :) Loved seeing all the pictures and I think we will plan on going when we next have a long weekend.

Could you clarify, the golf carts are when you get off the tram inside the resort?

Correct, just take the tram to the main beach and they are all parked there.

It's a shame they pulled out of Port Everglades so quickly, and also a shame no more day cruises. But they are doing 1 and 2 night cruises from Miami. Follow them on Facebook, they have been putting out a lot of promo codes at $25 for the 1 night including taxes, breakfast and dinner, and an oceanview cabin on the ship. It will cost almost that to park at POM for a night:D

Thanks for the great review - very informative, and I continue to enjoy your photos and sense of humor (as in "...if they'd clean it once a year...").

We are just back from Carnival Breeze and I have to thank you again for your detailed review of that cruise. My friend and I had both read your review multiple times and I'm sure your ears were burning when we mentioned you a couple of times. We loved the taco bar, as you suggested! And I had a dream on the 2nd to last night that you were a couple of cabins down from us and had already packed your bags up for departure!

OK I promise I'm not creepy, but your reviews are always very engaging and informative. You're becoming a local CC celebrity. Thanks for the good work!

Hello Gambee & Mom!!! Just ran across this review and had to sit and read it in its entirety. I, too, had seen this ferry arriving on the Port Miami webcam before and it was interesting to learn about it.

Sounds like you and your Mom had a fun day. Hopefully you can repeat it when the seas are calmer.:D

Nice review. Does anyone know if there are any all inclusive resorts near where the ship drops you off?

They drop you AT their private resort which is still partially under construction. Not sure if they plan to make it all-inclusive or not.

They no longer do day time cruises. They do 1 and 2 night cruises, but you can make a package to stay in a villa at the resort and go back on a subsequent cruise. I did the overnight trip with all meals/taxes/oceanview room on the ship for a total of $25. They gave me $30 in casino play and more free drinks than you can shake a stick at.

Gambee, Thank you so much for giving us insight into what it's like on a cruise line not many know about. The review was just as good as all the others! And I know that you are booked and ready for the Carnival Victory this year, but do you have any other cruises in mind? Or even already booked? I love your reviews and am wondering when I'll (And everyone else who enjoys them) will get a brand new one!

With Care,

We are also booked on NCL Escape for a short 3 day cruise, but that is pending on my schedule. The cruise is in early Nov, hopefully we can make it :)

http://www.miamiherald.com/living/travel/article53682340.html

The article above says the Superfast service has ended with the final return to Miami. The ship will be replaced by a 'more efficient', 'faster' ferry.

Some sources say the ship will head to Germany for a rebuild before being used in Asia as a full scale gambling ship.
