Tons of kids on September Pride Sailing?

Cruising on Pride out of Baltimore September 4th. I know its the day before the Labor day holiday but what are the odds that this cruise will be bombarded with a ton of kids? (Being that pretty much most schools are back in session or getting ready to start by then...) Anybody have experience cruising on September sailings and notice the amount of kids versus holiday breaks or peak summertime cruises?

Anytime you sail over a holiday, there will be more kids. It doesn't matter the time of year. We're contemplating this same cruise but I wouldn't let something like kids sway me as they aren't allowed were we spend most of our evenings (Piano Bar, Casino, Comedy)

Also not sure what you'd consider a ton of kids.

Did last week of August right before Labor day and had no issue. Although we found out later in the cruise that there were 400 children under the age of 15 on the boat. Me and my wife were shock cause we would of never known. Have a great time!

I think there will be less kids...but personally I would consider taking my kids out for a really good deal. For us (Fairfax County, VA) kids go back just after labor day. My logic is that they really don't learn anything that first week of school. Just my personal thought. Hope you have a great cruise!

Thanks everyone. I was thinking the same thing...most people are not going to pull their kids out of school within the first week or two it starts.

If they start after Labor Day, it wouldn't be pulling them out of school...it would be missing the first few days of school and just starting late. I still don't think many people would want to do this, but it might be a trade off with the parents getting an extra vacation day built in due to the holiday.

We were on the Sept. 6, 2015 Pride sailing, and we thought the ship would have many families and children because it was the Labor Day week. We forgot, that most kids at least in our area, return to school after Labor Day. Most kids were back, or going back to school the week we cruised.

Agree with this.

I have noticed that prices drop at the end of August. I assume it is due to the fact that many kids are heading back to school and they lose a large part of their customers.

I know our school district does not grant educational absences the first or last two weeks of school. So I would guess that there are less kids during this time and that the average age takes a large jump up.

Summer are peak for pricing, but end of August declines are more about hitting peak hurricane season. I have gotten some great deals and prices drops from September cruises, but I have also had to nervously check the NOAA website every three hours just days before cruise checking possible hurricane paths.

Just keep in mind...many schools follow calendars that you might think of as non-traditional. For example, here in metro-Atlanta, many of our public schools start back the first of August, and we actually have a week long break in mid September! We frequently cruise with our kiddos in September. I guess people probably assume we're pulling them out of school...but we're not!

I would think you'd be pretty safe around Labor Day...but I'd still expect some kids.

(For what it's worth...my kids have a week long break THIS week, too!!! I should be cruising!!)
