HoHo Bus in Dubai

We will be in Dubai on 1 November on the Ocean Princess. We are thinking of taking the HoHo bus or just a ship's tour. Noticed some online sites where we could get a one day ticket on the bus for about $60. Is there any reason to buy the ticket in advance online? Or could we just buy it at one of the stops? Also noted that we could buy an advance ticket online for the Buris Khalifa Tower for $100 AED or about $27 USD while the ship will take us there for $100 USD. Does the HoHo bus stop near that tall building?

HoHo bus in Dubai:

You can buy tickets without any problem at any of the stops. Din't buy it on line. In case you change your mind, you would lose your money. The Dubai bus does NOT run as frequently as the buses in say, London or Paris. The ride in DXB can take quite some tim, so if you want to see a few things in particular, better take taxis point to point. Taxis in DXB are all metered and clean and not at all expensive and the drivers will know all major landmarks, hotel and shopping centers. Be mindfull that traffic on Shaik Zayed road (the main drag in Dubai) can be hellish and you may be stuck in traffic. This is especially true on (Dubai) weekends from around 5 p.m.

To visit the Burj Khalifa tower, defianately buy a ticket on-line. You safe a bundle. The experience is awsome and well worth the money. It is not just a ride up in a lift, but also some very interesting multi-media exhibitions about the building, it's construction and philosphy behind the design. You will have to buy time specific tickets and you will have to be there for "check-in". Once up on the observation deck (parts of it is out in the open) you can hang around as long as you like. Plan a good 2 hours from start to finish. They do sell a good range of excellent and elegant souvenirs at the tower's gift shop.

Thanks. That is just what I needed to know.

The other issue with the hop-on, hop-off buses in Dubai is that since they only go one way, in long loops, they are not an effective way to get from one point to another unless the two points are in the order of their stops. For example, their tickets include a walking tour and a dhow boat ride, but the walking tour stop is after the dhow stop. As a result, we only had 2 choices take the long (over an hour loop) or walk back. We walked.
