Is it permissible in port to bring off the ship factory sealed snacks such as goldfish crackers, crackers, cookies, granola bars? My son has nut allergies and the only port we allow him to eat off the ship is Castaway Cay. We only plan for about 4 -5 hrs off the ship with excursions, etc and would eat before we get off. Can we bring these items off with us so he has snacks while we are out?

This is dependent upon the government of the port you are visiting, not the ship. However, the short answer is yes, it is permissible in MOST ports.

That said, we did a West coast cruise out of California and ALL bags were searched in the Mexican ports. They allowed NOTHING consumable to be taken off, not even a bottle of water. I've read that this is not standard, but it happened to every person on our cruise. They confiscated all food and threw it away. I suspect it was their way of encouraging us to contribute to their economy, but it failed. We turned around and re-boarded the ship.
