Andrea, no AMX-P benefit only applies to one sailing (if AMX did not restrict this World Cruisers would get tens of thousands of dollars of SBC). Actual terms of AMX-P below:

Cruise Privileges Program

Valid for new bookings of voyages of at least five nights made through American Express Travel. May not be combined with other offers unless indicated. Blackout dates, category and fare restrictions may apply. Payment must be made with an American Express Card in U.S. Platinum Card Member or Centurion Member's name. Card Member must travel on itinerary booked. Benefits listed require double occupancy and are non-transferable. If you are a resident of Puerto Rico or U.S. Virgin Islands, Cruise Privileges Program benefits may not be available in your home market. Up to $300 USD shipboard credit will be credited to the guest stateroom folio upon checkout. Credits cannot be used for casino charges and gratuities. Unused portion of credit is non-refundable and is not redeemable for cash. Other restrictions may apply, see onboard cashier for details. Two-category upgrade is within stateroom type. Stateroom upgrade confirmed at booking, based on availability. Certain Stateroom categories are not eligible for room upgrade; call Platinum Travel Service for details. Limit one benefit package per stateroom; three-stateroom limit per Card Member, per sailing. To obtain benefits, travel agents must visit americanexpress.com/asdonline. Participating providers and benefits subject to change.

DETAILS ON THE PROGRAM

The cardholder MUST be one of the people traveling on the cruise.

Up to THREE cabins can have the benefits added if all the charges are on an AMX card and the Platinum card holder uses his Platinum card number to apply for the credit.

It is NOT necessary to use the Platinum card to pay for the cruise to acquire the credit. However, the entire cruise must be paid on an AMX card of some kind. No Visa, MC or any other card.

There are many Platinum AMX cards, Delta, Hilton, Optima, etc. These DO NOT QUALIFY. It must be the unaffiliated $450 Platinum card to qualify. All cards are approved and checked by American Express to ensure they are qualified.

On back to back voyages or the World Cruise voyages only ONE AMX credit will be applied.

We have found that we do not have to actually book through American Express Travel, which we have done in the past. The perks are extended to us so long as we charge the cruise on the Platinum Card. My TA set me straight on this so we get both the advantage of AMEX and the additional perk she offers.

Very interesting to read this. Big differences between the US Platinum card benefits, and the UK benefits. :(

Oh and we can only enjoy the Plat amenities if we book through the Plat Travel Service, and the cruise is charged to the Plat card.

Your welcome Andrea. Yes, Count we also book thru our TA, a week prior to sailing we get the Amx tracking number from her in the event the Sbc is not in our suite at start of cruise. Very helpful to have this if you r missing Amx sbc...just go down to guest services w/tracking number and they verify w/sis office. DuctTape if we can ever synch cruises expect you to buy the first round since u ended the b2b Bennie :)

I'd make Wes be the sport and buy the drink! Even if he has to pay, he's probably working on a minimum spend for a sign-up bonus :)

ductape - a little birdie told me that we're almost neighbors. Are you in the same city as USNA?

I will be happy to do so, Wes.

I've always booked through a friend who is a TA and received the AMex Platinum benefit. This time around, I may book directly though Silversea (spoke with a consultant there last night after the new SIlver Select promo arrived in my email In Box).

Will I receive the Amex Platinum benefit when booking directly with SIlversea?

If not, can I have SS hold my cabin, then transfer the booking to AmEx or to a TA?

I am actually less worried about shipboard credit (the Silver Select promo gives $1,000 SBC) than the bottle of Dom :)

It does not matter who books it, just use the platinum to pay for it. There is no more double/triple dipping on B2Bs.

I won't be on a back to back (looks like i resurfaced the wrong thread), but I know when I booked through a TA they had to get a special code from AmEx Platinum to apply the cruise benefits.

So that is not the case anymore? I can book direct with Silversea, pay with AmEx Platinum and the benefits will automatically be applied?

You can do better than booking directly with Silversea. There are travel agents who can offer rebates in addition to the normal benefits. They are especially good if you do not need a travel agent to hold your hand and take care of all the details.

Absolutely agree and am looking for a new TA. n the meantime, the consultant at Silversea answered his phone last night and is holding a booking. I requested quotes on ************* but so far none of the agency quotes offer more than Silversea.

So-can anyone answer whether we can transfer our bookings to a TA after booking with SS and do we need to do so to gain the Amex Platinum benefit?

As I understand it you can use any Amex card to pay as long as you actually own a Platinum card.

I've heard a slightly different twist on this, wripro. We made a deposit long ago, back in 2011, for an Oct 2013 cruise. That was about 2 years before we even owned an AMEX Platinum card. When it came time to make final payment, I had been reading about Platinum benefits and got an AMEX Platinum, and tried to have the benefits applied. Initially they said no, but we dug into the terms & conditions and got them to allow the benefits after further discussion.

The rules (at that time, as my TA explained to me) was that the deposit could be made using any AMEX card, including the cobranded ones, but the final payment had to be made using AMEX Platinum. Since we had (though dumb luck) made the deposit using my BOA AMEX Accolades card, we were able to secure the Platinum benefits by making the final payment on the Platinum card.

So my experience as of 2013 was - you can make the DEPOSIT with any AMEX card, but the final payment had to be with the Platinum card. Have you had a different experience, or more recent experience? These things tend to change slightly over time... I have always used the Platinum card to make deposit and final payment since then, just to be safe.

To the OP - we always work with a TA, so can't answer your question - sorry!

I must be missing something . We have charged last 4 SB and SS trips to my amex Platinum card but booked thru a TA. I never got and shipboard or any credit just regular points. Ill ask again but was told the last time amex travel needed to book. The same with buying air . We are using 2 for 1 first class for an oseas trip but did not book direct with amex so you get the 2 for 1 but not double points.

With UK registered Platinum cards it has always been the case that only bookings made through Amex are eligible.

But my understanding is that with US registered ones the benefits apply also if booking with a TA.

Assume your card is US registered as I note your location is Chicago? If so, I'd definitely push a bit more on this one because unless policy has changed recently, you should be able to get the Plat benefits.

Would you mind updating on the thread if you do receive a positive response?

Your TA needs to get in touch with Amex Platinum, get a tracking number for the $300 credit and give to to Seabourn. Them you will get the shipboard credit. Any TA can do it. And make sure your TA gives you the tracking number in case of any problem.
