Cab from Vancouver Airport to Fairmont Pacific Rim

All correct info - traffic can be a bear depending what time you're arriving, and there are no highways so it's pretty much all 30mph when you're not stopped at lights. Good news is that the cost is fixed at CAD$35 for the trip from YVR, so regardless of traffic you know what you need to pay. Tip as you would in the US, Credit Cards should be accepted by all cabs if you don't have local cash, and worst-case you can usually pay in USD cash at a crappy exchange rate.

From the Vancouver airport to this area of Vancouver we have public transit that would be faster than a cab depending on the time of day you arrive. The "Skytrain" leaves from the airport and is way cheaper than a cab.

Thoughts....

  • Cab is $35 from YVR to Pacific Rim. I like the door to door convenience when travelling with luggage.
  • subway is $9.10 per person before 6:30pm weekdays. You save about $17 ($14 USD) for two adults.
    • it's about 10 minute luggage drag (1/2 mile) from the subway platform to the Pacific Rim hotel. Yes, there is a mini hill around Howe street.
    • if you are arriving after 7pm.... the subway runs at a reduced frequency. If you miss the train in the evenings... you might be waiting 20 minutes for the next one.... the taxi will get you downtown much faster.
