Does anyone have recent experience of visiting Muscat re the need to obtain a visa on arrival? We were there earlier this year and did not have to get one but we have read that Oman has since introduced this requirement at a cost of about £40 per person which makes a stroll to the souk a rather expensive shopping trip!

Without knowing your nationality, where you are transiting from, and how you are landing in Muscat, it is difficult to say. More information?

My ship got us VOA.

Hello Pegopolly. I see that like us your location is Spain. We will be visiting Muscat as part of our cruise leaving in 5 weeks time. I am copying and pasting the info from the Royal Oman police website. I think that if you are visiting for over 24 hours the ships personnel would get the visa for you and charge it to your ships account. Hope this helps. Happy cruising. :)

Thanks for that, Bazbov. We are British and will be travelling with MSC in March. This year we were with RCL and did not need a visa for our two Oman stops but the FCO web site states the visa system has been introduced recently.
